Please welcome our new Head of Juniors, Jon Williams, to Horsham Hockey club.

🏑 From premier league pitches in England, New Zealand & Portugal to international dugouts across the world — hockey has been my life.

As a player I’ve captained Scotland O40s & O45s, led them to the Masters World Cup semi-finals, and racked up 100+ premier league appearances across three countries. As a coach, I’ve helped teams win PanAm Games titles with USA Field Hockey, Portugal Premier League titles, New Zealand Schools & Premier League championships, and most recently a World Cup gold medal with England O55s in 2024 🥇

Holding an FIH Level 3 coaching qualification and working towards Level 4, I’ve had the privilege of developing players and programmes at every level of the game — from school academies to international squads.

The love for this game never fades. Looking forward to working with Horsham Hockey Club. Here’s to the next chapter. 🏑

This weekend eight regional teams gathered at Guildford Hockey Club for the Ladies Over 50’s regional masters competition. Horsham ladies Fran Smallridge and Lucy Bubb were there representing the South East. (And ex Horsham Ladies Suzy Clapp and Amanda Billington).

The South East team got off to a fantastic start with 3 wins and 1 draw on day one putting them top of the table. Sunday saw them off to a slower start, drawing their first two games, meaning it all came down the final game against South Central. A early goal put them in front with an another following in the second half. The game finished 2-0 to South East meaning they pipped East to first place and got to take the cup home.

The level of hockey was fantastic across the board, but it was an absolutely amazing team performance from the South East ladies.

Sunday saw our girl fight to the end in a 2-4 defeat to Tun ridge Wells and a 3-3 draw with Guildford

The girls should be incredibly proud of themselves after finishing second in the whole of the South East.
They faced much stronger opposition this weekend than they have faced in the league and they still held their own, and never gave up.
We were unlucky not to beat Guildford, and Tunbridge Wells played some great hockey... on another day, we could have taken that win too. The girls gave everything, showed huge heart, and should feel very proud of what they have achieved.

A big thank you to Lisa, Mandy and Faye.... Emma again for liaising with the other teams to get today over the line and Fred for sponsoring the girls shirts.
