We only had ten today but you wouldn’t have known it due to the effort all ten put in. Our keeper was nearly unbeatable, our defence worked as a team, the midfield never stopped running and our forwards scared the opposition.
It was a performance to be proud of from the whole team and 40% of the team got on the scoresheet. However, Noah was stopping shots for fun and slowling the game down nicely, while Mckenzie never stopped running, and contributed equally at both ends of the pitch. Therefore, those two were singled out for PotM.
Mckenzie’s comments:
Great game against a tough opponent today, we utilised our fitness levels and, although we had one player less, came out on top thanks to an amazing last minute winner from the halfway line but also a lot of determination and teamwork. Perfect start to the season, now onto the next one.
Oscar’s captain’s comments:
Well, what can I say? We played like we really wanted it the win, we had the desire we deserved the outcome. Everyone should be proud of themselves, giving it 100%. When they brought on fresh legs onto the pitch, we had no option but to carry on, using the fitness training we did over the summer. Coach Colin pointed out they looked more tired and fatigued than us, they chased around the pitch when we played the ball to each other. We held our shape in defensive positions, very well and created some good attacking chances. One highlight that I would like to take away, is the way we exploited their defensive and weaker areas on the counter attack. When we had limited chances we worked as a team to move up the pitch. Overall a very strong message from the boys, showing other teams what we can do with only 10 players. Hopefully we can expand on this with the full squad for the rest of the season and grow together throughout the season. We put up a fight and persevered, didn’t give up and battled to the final whistle. Congratulations boys and you should all be proud of yourselves. Only way is up!
