Yarnbury Angling Club Yarnbury Angling Club was founded in 2008 in the town of Horsforth on the rural outskirts of Leeds.

We are a match fishing group that promotes freshwater fishing on natural waters with a focus on river fishing.

🎣 2026 Matchman of the Year Update 🎣
With the Old Ball Cup now complete, the 2026 Matchman of the Year title has been decided.
🥇 Congratulations to Adie Addy, who has secured the championship with an unassailable 12 points. Consistency has been the key once again, and Adie's latest runner-up finish at the Old Ball Cup means he cannot now be caught with just one match remaining.
🏆 The title is Adie's fifth Matchman of the Year crown, further cementing his place amongst Yarnbury AC's most successful match anglers.
The battle for the remaining podium places, however, remains wide open. Andy Parker's maiden Yarnbury AC victory moves him into a strong second place on 7 points, while a number of anglers remain mathematically capable of improving their positions in the final standings.

🎣 Yarnbury AC Old Ball Cup Match Report 🎣

River Trent, Caythorpe & Hoveringham 6th September 2026

Eight anglers contested this year's Old Ball Cup on the River Trent, with competitors spread across Caythorpe and Hoveringham. A tricky downstream wind combined with alternating rain and sunshine made conditions challenging throughout the day, with small silverfish proving to be the key to success.

🏆 Andy Parker claimed his first-ever Yarnbury AC match victory in his debut season with the club, taking the Old Ball Cup with 9lb 12oz of dace and roach. In a match where every fish counted, Andy's well-earned win came by the narrowest of margins.

🥈 Adie Addy finished runner-up with 9lb 6oz, just 6oz behind the winner. Known as the club's resident roach expert, Adie pushed Andy all the way but ultimately fell just short. Has the roach guru finally met his match?

🥉 Steve Horner secured third place with 8lb 2oz after a difficult start. A strong second half of the match and a steady run of small dace helped him climb into the frame.

🎖 Ben Horner finished fourth with 5lb 12oz, picking up his first point of the season. A pack of pike made life difficult when targeting quality roach, but the day's biggest surprise came when he somehow landed a pike estimated at around 15lb on a 0.10mm bottom, a battle that certainly attracted plenty of attention along the bank.

🏅 2026 Matchman of the Year Decided

Although Andy took the Old Ball Cup honours, Adie Addy's second-place finish secures the 2026 Yarnbury AC Matchman of the Year title with an unassailable 12 points.

The championship crown is Adie's fifth Matchman of the Year success, a remarkable achievement built on consistency throughout the season.

🎣 One Match To Go

Although the Matchman of the Year title has now been decided, there is still one fixture remaining in the 2026 season. The final match will take place on the River Trent at Fiskerton on Sunday 4th October, where members will have one last opportunity to end the season on a high.

📢 Yarnbury AC Teams of Four Championship 2026 🎣
The annual Teams of Four Championship took place at the river Trent at Sheldon’s on 23rd August, with three teams battling it out for club bragging rights and the coveted title of Team Champions.
Fishing proved challenging throughout the day, with the venue failing to produce many of the larger fish anglers had hoped for. Instead, catches were made up predominantly of small silvers, meaning every fish and every ounce counted. With weights relatively modest across the board, consistency was the key to success.
On an evenly matched day, it was The Committee who emerged victorious, taking the title with 19 points, just one point ahead of both The Day Baggerz and The Mutley Crew, who finished tied on 18 points. In such a tight contest, every section point proved crucial.

The tougher sections saw anglers scrapping for every bite, with Arthur Smith's 3lb 12oz winning Section C and Ben Emsley's 1lb 9oz proving enough to top Section D, underlining just how hard-earned every fish was.

🏆 Yarnbury AC Matchman of the Year Update 🏆

Following the Mutley Cup at Holme Marsh, the Matchman of the Year standings are starting to take shape.

Adie Addy continues to set the pace, extending his lead at the top to 9 points and 51lb 6oz. Behind him, Ben Emsley's Mutley Cup victory moves him into second place, while Roy Knox's section-winning performance sees him climb into third.

A special mention goes to Jake Callaby, whose third-place finish at Holme Marsh was both his best-ever Yarnbury match result and his biggest match weight to date.

🎣🏆 MUTLEY CUP RETURNS TO HOLME MARSH 🏆🎣
Firstly, apologies for the delayed report from the Mutley Cup, which took place on 2 August. With it being peak holiday season and anglers, officials and reporters all seemingly disappearing to sunnier climates, the club's media team has been running at reduced capacity. Better late than never!
Yarnbury AC returned to the mighty River Trent at Holme Marsh for this year's Mutley Cup, with anglers hoping for a favourable draw and a net full of Trent bream. As always on the Trent, some pegs looked more attractive than others at the draw.
🥇 Ben Emsley took the honours with a superb 116lb 8oz, securing his first-ever win at Holme Marsh. Drawn on a peg that had shown little recent form, Ben made a key tactical decision to cast across to the notorious snag off Peg 5, taking advantage of the fact that the peg below him was vacant. It was a gamble based on years of experience on the stretch, and it paid off in style as he put together a winning net of Trent bream to lift the Mutley Cup.
🥈 Frederick Prudham continued his consistent form, weighing 105lb 11oz. On many days that would have been enough to take the trophy, but he had to settle for second place behind Ben's impressive catch.
🥉 Jake Callaby enjoyed a breakthrough performance, weighing 89lb 2oz for third place. Not only did it secure his highest-ever finish in a Yarnbury match, but it also represented his biggest-ever match weight. Jake's hard work and improvement continue to show and this result will undoubtedly give him plenty of confidence heading into the remainder of the season.
Just behind Jake was Adie Addy, whose 88lb 6oz secured fourth place. With only 12oz separating third and fourth, every fish truly mattered.

A quick reminder for those already reaching for their calculators: despite the huge weights produced at Holme Marsh, all catches in the Matchman of the Year Aggregate are capped at 30lb. So whilst the Trent was in a particularly generous mood, Ben, Fred, Jake and Adie all leave with the same maximum aggregate weight, keeping the race for Matchman of the Year very much alive. 🎣

This match again showed why Holme Marsh remains one of the club's favourite venues, producing multiple weights close to or over the century mark.
Congratulations to Ben Emsley on a well-deserved victory, and a special well done to Jake Callaby on a personal best performance. With league points becoming increasingly important, the race for silverware is starting to heat up as we head into the business end of the season.

🎣🏆 YARNBURY ANGLING CLUB – MATCHMAN OF THE YEAR UPDATE 🏆🎣
Following the Queens Arms Cup, the 2026 Matchman of the Year standings are starting to take shape, with one angler already opening up a lead at the top of the table.

Leading the way is Adie Addy with 8 points and an aggregate weight of 21lb 6oz. Adie's excellent start to the season has been highlighted by his victory in the Queens Arms Cup, where he secured the trophy for the third time.
In second place is Roy Knox on 4 points, while Andy Parker and Ryan Knox currently occupy third and fourth spots on 3 points apiece.

With plenty of matches still ahead, there's everything to fish for and the leaderboard could change quickly.
A special mention also goes to Ron Harrison, who currently holds the River Monster Award thanks to his superb 7lb 6oz Trent barbel caught at East Stoke during the Queens Arms Cup. That's a benchmark that will take some beating this season!

🏆🎣 YARNBURY ANGLING CLUB – RICHARD JUNIPER MEMORIAL TRENT FEST 2026 🎣🏆
Apologies for the delayed report from this year's Richard Juniper Memorial Trent Fest, held over 15th and 16th July on the River Trent at East Stoke.

With temperatures soaring throughout the two-day event and the river running low and clear, competitors faced some difficult conditions. Big fish were scarce, and success largely depended on putting together nets of small roach, dace and chub, making consistency the key to a good result.

At the end of two hard-fought days, Adie Addy lifted the trophy with a superb combined weight of 20lb 3oz. After weighing 7lb 4oz on Day 1, Adie produced the best weight of the festival on Day 2 with 12lb 15oz to secure victory.
Not to be outdone, Ryan Knox pushed him all the way, finishing just 5oz behind on 19lb 14oz. Ryan led after Day 1 with an excellent 12lb 7oz and looked set to take the title before Adie's strong second-day charge saw him sneak ahead.
Third place went to Andy Parker with 12lb 3oz, ahead of Fred Prudham, who finished fourth on 10lb 7oz.

Despite the tough fishing, spirits remained high throughout the event. Adie even turned up looking like he'd taken a wrong turn on the way to Wimbledon, sporting a headband and wristband combination that had several members checking whether the draw had been replaced by a tennis tournament. Rumours that the extra sweatband technology added 5lb to his Day 2 catch have yet to be verified ! 🎾😂

🏆🎣 YARNBURY ANGLING CLUB – QUEENS ARMS CUP 🏆
Apologies for the delayed report from the Queens Arms Cup, held at East Stoke on 5th July.
With the river proving far from easy, it was a match where every bite counted. In the end, Adie Addy came out on top with a winning weight of 8lb 10oz, caught on the whip, to secure the prestigious trophy for the third time.
Adie's consistency on the small fish proved the difference on a day when bites were hard earned, adding yet another Queens Arms Cup success to his growing list of achievements.
Second place went to Ron Harrison with 7lb 9oz, thanks largely to a magnificent 7lb barbel, comfortably the fish of the day.
Steve Horner claimed third with 6lb 4oz, while Andy Parker completed the frame with 5lb 2oz.
Aside from Ron's outstanding barbel, the match was largely decided by accumulating small fish, with roach, dace and chublets making up the majority of catches across the field.

📢 YAC Match Report – Woodlands Cup | Bacon Factory Pond | 7th June 2026
Last weekend saw members head to Bacon Factory Pond for the Woodlands Cup, and it turned out to be a proper mixed-bag match with a bit of everything showing.
🥇 Ady Addy took the win with 12lb 10oz, putting together a quality net that included a fine crucian carp, along with some nice ide and skimmers, all taken on the short pole – a well worked victory and enough to lift the Woodlands Cup 🏆
🥈 Ryan Knox finished second with 10lb 0oz, boosted by a large tench and a decent bream, which proved vital in keeping in touch with the top spot
🥉 Andy Parker, a new member, made an immediate impression on his debut with 7lb 10oz. Andy kept busy all day on the pole, catching a steady run of small rudd and ide – a great first match effort 👏
4️⃣ Dan Audley took fourth with 6lb 10oz
