Another great night of walking football last Tuesday.
If you fancy giving it a go, come and join us at this Tuesday 6.45pm at Hornsea School 3G.
Just bring yourself, trainers and a drink.

Barton Walking Football Festival Report.

Today was Hornsea Ladies first outing in 2024. A poor weather forecast did not put us off, with the team able to gather 10 hardy souls to venture across the bridge.

After the Ref's updated each of the team captains on the rules, we started our first game against Cleethorpes on pitch 3.

V Cleethorpes

Cleethorpes drew first blood getting themselves ahead 1-0, but in response our Debutante Amanda pulled it back with a goal of her own. Not long after Tina smashed one in giving us a 2-1 lead.
Unfortunately we couldn't hold them out and conceded making the game a 2 all draw.

V Lincoln Invictus

This fixture saw us take to pitch 1, which would be our home for the next few games. Lincoln started strong and got themselves a 2-0 lead, however a low strong strike from Lynne saw us pull one back. As time was running away from us Tina managed to break free and smash the ball under the cross bar but the Ref deemed it wasn't a goal.
Maybe we need to have a word with VAR 🙃
Game ended 2-1 to Lincoln.

V Collingham Ladies

This was always going to be a tough ask as Collingham have a well drilled side. But despite this Hornsea held there own, and if not for some superb saves and determined defence the 5-0 scoreline would have been easily double figures.

V Barton Inclusive

This game was a highlight for us with Tina bagging 3 goals and Amanda claiming 1. It could have been 4 goals for Tina, however in the process of scoring her 4th goal the Ref blew for a running infringement, and as this was our final warning the opposition was awarded a penalty.
Sue clearly decided she was not going to lose her clean sheet and made a fine save.
Final score 4-0

V Stamford Strollers

Our last game proved to be a step too far and although we had a few chances, Strollers proved too strong and we lost 6-0.

Fantastic effort from everyone today, we had 2 new players in Marnie and Amanda and Rose had it sprung on her that she would be our team captain for the day.
Also, big thank you to Julie who kept us all in check making sure we were on the correct pitch and kept our scores, as well as filling us all with sweets 😋
