Optimum Motorsport was founded in 2007 but the origins of the team began in 2000, and it is today run by Shaun Goff. Over the past eight years Optimum has developed future motorsport stars across multiple Ginetta programmes, including Joe Osborne, Ryan Ratcliffe and Stewart Linn. The Wakefield-based squad has scored five championship victories, most notably the 2013 British GT4 Class title with Ryan Ratcliffe and Rick Parfitt Jnr.

There's no such thing as too much Spa, right? ๐Ÿคท

In a last-minute line-up change, McLaren GT3 Junior driver, Mikey Porter, will replace Luca Hopkinson in Optimum Motorsport's #59 GT4 Silver entry for British GT's two-hour race at Spa-Francorchamps.

Porter will share the Evolution Security-backed McLaren Artura with Josh Stanton, one of four McLarens fielded by Optimum Motorsport this weekend, before switching up to his regular GT3 McLaren GT3 EVO for the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa next weekend.

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ "I'm really looking forward to heading to Spa a week early, and grateful for the opportunity to be involved with British GT again. It's been a couple of years since I did this race, so i'm really looking forward to returning to the GT4 Silver class to hopefully secure another class victory. I'll have a new teammate in Josh, and it'll be my first time in the McLaren GT4, so let's see how we go."

Optimum has landed! ๐Ÿฆ…

We opted for the early check-in early and weโ€™ve unpacked our big bags (four trucks worth, to be exact), ready for our biggest race of the year: the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa.

But first, weโ€™ve got another scorching weekend of British GT to bring you!

For a race mechanic, the hard work doesnโ€™t stop when the chequered flag falls.

An incredible amount of preparation has been going on back at base over the past few weeks to get us ready for this mammoth double-header at Spa-Francorchamps. As well as the standard reprep job lists and testing, thereโ€™s been a full rebuild undertaken on our Artura GT4, as well as extensive repairs required to our pair of GT World Challenge Europe McLarens post-Monza - both requiring new engines.

Hereโ€™s Optimum Motorsport No. 1 Mechanic, Matty, as he and his crew put the No.5 Silver Cup challenger back together ahead of the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa.

INCEPTION RACING ADDS JAXON EVANS FOR SAHLENโ€™S SIX HOURS OF THE GLEN AS SCHANDORFF HEADS TO SPA

Inception Racing is pleased to confirm that Jaxon Evans will step-in for Frederik Schandorff in the No. 70 Ferrari 296 GT3 EVO for the Sahlenโ€™s Six Hours of The Glen at Watkins Glen International, the sixth round of the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

The New Zealander slots into the cockpit alongside Inceptionโ€™s IMSA Michelin Endurance GTD line-up of Brendan Iribe and Ollie Millroy, as Frederik Schandorff takes the opportunity to contest the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa with Selected Car Racing โ€” swapping one prancing horse for another as he trades the #70 Ferrari for the twice-around-the-clock Belgian enduro. On their last outing together, Schandorff and Iribe took the GTD Bronze win at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca - with Iribe currently out front in the Bob Akin Award points standings.

29-year-old Jaxon is no stranger to the IMSA paddock, having previously joined Kellymoss with Riley for the Michelin Endurance Cup rounds of the 2023 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, demonstrating the pace and racecraft required to perform at the sharp end of the GTD field.

Are you ready for an Ardennes adventure?! ๐Ÿงณ

We're packing our big bags and hopping across the channel for British GT's "away" round at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps this weekend.

GT3 Silver-Am pairing Marc Warren and Jack Brown will be looking to continue their run of silverware with the #90 Xpel-back McLaren, having enjoyed an overall podium as well as class win and second-place finish across the two races at Oulton Park.

Meanwhile, in GT3 Pro-Am, Optimum's Morgan Tillbrook and Ben Barnicoat return - Barnicoat fresh from his LMP2 Pro-Am podium finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. They too, will be seeking success at Spa, having taken the overall win last time out, with the #77 McLaren at Oulton Park.

We'll also be welcoming back GT3 Pro-Am pairing, Mike Price and Callum Macleod, for their first British GT outing this year, in what will is the pair's fourth consecutive season together. Donning papaya instead of it's usual lime colour scheme, Optimum's #3 McLaren won the blue-riband Silverstone 500 3-hour race, albeit in the hands of Silver-Am pairing Yasser Shahin and Garnet Patterson.

Finally, Josh Stanton and Luca Hopkinson will represent Optimum's GT4 campaign, following an extensive rebuild of the #59 McLaren Artura due to damage incurred during Oulton Park's opening race. It's eyes down for the Silver-class contenders, who will be looking to secure as many championship points to get their 2026 campaign back on track!

Track time kicks off on Friday afternoon with two hours of testing.

And that's just how quickly a good run can come to an end..

Harry suffered contact at Turn 1 of the opening lap, but - unlike some of the field, was able to continue for several laps, but ultimately, the car had to box due to low water pressure. With race retirement inevitable, the No. 4 crew completed the necessary repairs to complete a single shakedown lap before the chequered flag was waved.

The second blow came with just over an hour still to run, with Mikey Porter running into trouble at the second chicane. He found himself in the gravel and caused extensive damage to the underside of the car in an attempt to return to the track.

As we entered the third hour of the race, both McLarens were parked up in the box, surrounded by two devastated crews.

We'll be back out in three weeks, having regrouped, reset and repaired today's damage - and we'll be ready to go full-attack at Spa-Francorchamp's double-header: British GT - followed by the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa.

Another impressive qualifying from our NOVEM GOLD-backed Silver Cup crew, with a strong showing from all three drivers, but it was Mikey Porter who brought the heat, finishing the Q3 second fastest and 9th overall.

Three hours of GT3 action coming up this afternoon, and with a very slight chance of rain still forecast - we'll be turning up the heat out there!
