WHAT A START FOR THE GEMS!

Today our girls finally played their first league game and what a way to start!

The Gems came away with a fantastic team performance that resulted in lots of goals, a dominant game, but what pleased us most wasn’t the result, it was the way the girls played.

Everything we’ve been working on in training over the last few months was there to see. Confidence on the ball, passing and moving, working hard for each other, winning the ball back with determination and then having the composure to play.

Every girl contributed. They encouraged each other, celebrated each other’s successes and played with huge smiles on their faces.

For their first league game together, we couldn’t have asked for much more.

If these girls continue to show the same attitude, togetherness and willingness to learn, they’ve got an exciting season ahead of them.

A brilliant first league game and a very proud coaching team!

Tomorrow marks a little bit of history for Horbury Town Girls as we play our FIRST EVER league game! ❤️🩷

These girls have trained, learned, laughed and grown together — and now they get the chance to pull on the Horbury shirt and represent their town in league football for the very first time. 🥹⚽️

We want the girls to enjoy every second, play with smiles on their faces and be proud of how far they’ve already come.

If you’re free, we’d absolutely love to see some Horbury faces on the sidelines cheering on our Gems! 💎👏

Don’t forget it’s just £2 entry fee for all HTJFC parents and U16’s go free at tomorrow’s home fixture v Keighley Town!

Make sure you don’t miss out and just explain to Jayne on the gate which age group team your child belongs to.

Our U6’s are mascots so it will be a great occasion for them and they get to do a mini match at halftime!

If there’s ever a positive of a busy schedule, it’s the opportunity to not dwell on a disappointing result and have the chance to put it right a few days later.

Saturday sees Horbury back on home soil as they face Keighley Town FC who come into this fixture still searching for their first victory of the season; something our club were doing this time last year.

To put into perspective our start so far, whilst the last two league games have seen Horbury fall to narrow defeats, the club have clocked up eight points from the opening six, five points more than this time last season. Add that to the progression in the FA Cup to two further rounds, it’s been a positive start.

For this weekend only, we would like to offer the opportunity for any parent of a player in our junior section to come down and support for a heavily discounted fee. It’s massively important to the club and the community that the support of our side starts with those in our junior ranks. Any parent who brings their child on Saturday, will pay just £2 entry.

A massive thanks to The Halpenny for sponsoring this one again and to our U6s who’ll be mascots for the day.

Let’s put the last seven days behind us and move forward once again as we go in search of eleven points; something which took Horbury until the 1st November last season to achieve.

The U23s are still on the lookout for talented individuals to join the club.

Games take place most Monday evenings at the home of Hemsworth Miners Welfare, 715 or 830 kick offs.

A great pathway into showcasing yourself with the opportunities to play semi professional football.

Our mini ballers the U7’s got their league campaign underway against a very spirited Nostell side in the new 3v3 format.

With no goalkeepers, referees or instructions from the coaches, it was great to see the players express themselves.

The parents had a great introduction to cheering on from the sidelines too due to the rain that came down mid match….. don’t worry it’s not always like this…. 😳 ☔️

WE ARE SOOOO BACK! ⚽️

The gates opened at 8.30am and we’ve hosted 12 home games, welcoming 12 away teams in the process!

It’s been absolutely brilliant to be back and get the season underway. Lots of great goals, tackles, saves and enjoyment had by all!

Great to be back and here’s to an exciting season ahead for the Red Army!
