I wasn’t going to do any rides this year. You’d be surprised how much work goes in in the run up to them. Then there’s the rides themselves which have so much potential to end in disaster and then on top of that I’d created a monster by writing a report every week!!
Anyway, Mr Hutchinson talked me around - this is pretty normal. But, the condition was that we ran things low key, hence no stories this year.
Every trip we take is a risk to us and quite stressful. One accident and we could find ourselves in a world of trouble, but, the thrill of the sport is in the danger. I think we’ve done a good job of walking the line between staying safe and having a buzz. We’ve introduced over 200 kids to the sport and accumulated thousands of riding hours. We’ve tried to create a fun and relaxed vibe but still never had a serious injury.
Nevertheless, after 10years, we have decided that we are not going to be doing any more mountain bike trips as a club.
The kids we have taken have been a blast and been a pleasure to spend time with. I still laugh when I read the old reports. I’d like to thank everyone who has been and all the parents that have always been supportive. Also, thank you to the school for allowing us to use the bus and keep our stuff there.
It would be great if someone was to set up something similar that our kids can use and we would offer as much support as possible. Send us a message if you know anyone.
Anyway. Here a few photos from the other night and some old ones for nostalgia
Over and out 😢
