What a day for the Amber Army at the Calderdale Way Relay πŸ’›πŸ–€ thanks for an incredible event.

Brilliant results across all our teams on one of the biggest off road team events of the running year:

πŸ₯‡ Ladies Team – 1st
πŸ”₯ Open Team – 7th
πŸ₯‰ Vets Team – 3rd
πŸ’ͺ Mixed Team – 5th

A huge turnout, fantastic team spirit and brilliant performances right across the club. From flying relay legs at the front to teammates digging deep all around the course, this is exactly what club running is all about.

Fell, trail, hills, sunshine, support crews and amber vests everywhere πŸ™Œ

One club. All abilities. Proper team racing πŸ’›πŸ–€

Marathon season 2026 πŸŒπŸ’›πŸ–€

Boston. Milan. York. Manchester. Leeds. London. Geneva. Barcelona.

At least 11 marathons completed by Harriers this spring, covering a combined total of over 288 miles / 464km on race day alone 😳

And behind those finish lines?
Around 176 weeks of training across the group. Early mornings. Long runs. Dark nights. Sore legs. Gel wrappers everywhere. Hundreds upon hundreds of training miles.

Too many PBs, breakthroughs and pain barriers smashed to even mention.

From first marathons to experienced racers chasing ambitious times, we’ve loved watching Harriers take on the challenge all over the world.

Now go and enjoy a well-earned recovery… before someone inevitably signs up for another one πŸ‘€

Three Peaks Race – Proud History, Brilliant Present πŸ”οΈπŸ’›πŸ–€

The Three Peaks Race has long been part of Holmfirth Harriers history β€” and this weekend our current team added another superb chapter.

πŸ’₯ 2nd Overall in the Relay
πŸ₯‡ 1st Mixed Team
πŸ”₯ Two teams in the Top 7

Amber vests right at the sharp end once again.

And according to StatsBob…
⛰️ Helen & Tim were the fastest pair up Ingleborough of all relay teams β€” quicker than every individual runner except elite international Tom Evans. Outstanding.

A huge thank you as well to Phil Hobbs for top organisational work as ever.

But this race means more than one weekend.

To our knowledge, the first Harrier to run the race was Bill Wade in 1963, when it started from the Hill Inn at Chapel le Dale. Bill completed it an incredible 41 times.

Since then, generations of Harriers have taken it on β€” names like Roger Bradley, Trevor Ramsden, Mick Armitage, Ian Roberts, Andy Styan and many more.

Club legend Andy Hauser recorded nine top-10 finishes, including a highest placing of 3rd, matched by Ian Roberts.

From those early pioneers to today’s relay success, the Three Peaks remains one of the great tests β€” and one deeply woven into our club story.

Past and present. Tradition and performance.
That’s Holmfirth Harriers.

Road Running with the Amber Army πŸ’›πŸ–€

A great turnout at the Wilmslow Half Marathon today β€” one of our road championship races β€” with some strong runs on the board:
β€’ Michael – 1:21:49
β€’ Tim – 1:21:59
β€’ Andrew – 1:30:42

Across the North this weekend, Harriers have been out racing on the roads β€” from 5Ks to half marathons β€” showing just how active and competitive our road running section is.

If you’ve been thinking about giving a race a go, this is where to start. Whether you’re chasing a PB or entering your first event, there’s always someone at your level and a team to be part of.

With an active and competitive road section β€” whatever your goal, come and race with us. πŸ’›πŸ–€

Ian Roberts Memorial Fell Race πŸŒ§οΈπŸ”οΈπŸ’›πŸ–€

Today’s Ian Roberts Fell Race delivered exactly what fell running is famous for β€” wild, wet and windy conditions out on the moors. Proper weather, proper racing.

Despite the tough conditions, 82 runners battled their way round the course, taking on the climbs, the mud and the elements. Huge respect to everyone who made it to the finish line today.

A massive thank you to our volunteers, who stood out on remote checkpoints and across the course in freezing wind and rain to keep the race safe and running smoothly. Events like this simply don’t happen without you.

Brilliant effort from runners and volunteers alike β€” a true day of proper Yorkshire fell running.

Last Wednesday’s Harriers Quiz Night was a great night. Around 32 of us packed the pub, forming teams, debating answers and proving that runners can be very competitive even when the only thing at stake is a slightly dodgy trophy.

Congratulations to Phil, who took home the coveted (and rather questionable) quiz trophy after a close-fought evening of club trivia, running stats and music.

A special mention goes to Bob’s tie-breaker question, which was so difficult it almost reduced the room to tears. Safe to say nobody saw that one coming.

The real highlight of the night, though, was meeting some of our newer members and mixing people across the club. Nights like this remind us that HHAC isn’t just about races and training sessions β€” it’s about the people too.

And organiser Jon was so pleased with the turnout that he’s already taken the music round playlist out on a long run.

Thanks to everyone who came along and made it such a fun evening. Judging by the turnout and the laughs, this might need to become a regular fixture on the Harriers calendar.

Yorkshire Bronze for Our Harriers πŸ’™πŸ’›πŸ–€

A brilliant achievement for some of our Holmfirth Harriers ladies, who recently represented Yorkshire at the Inter-Counties Cross Country Championships β€” helping the county team secure a fantastic bronze medal.

The Inter-Counties is one of the most competitive cross country events of the season, bringing together the strongest runners from counties across the country. To be selected to represent Yorkshire is a huge achievement in itself, and to come away with a team medal makes it even more special.

We’re incredibly proud to see Harriers competing at this level and flying the flag for both club and county.

National Cross Country Championships πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ’›πŸ–€

This weekend, Holmfirth Harriers stood on one of the biggest stages in British distance running β€” the National Cross Country Championships.

With Senior Men’s and Senior Ladies teams toeing the line in huge, fiercely competitive fields, it was a proud moment for the club. The Nationals are unlike any other race β€” thousands of runners, historic courses, proper championship atmosphere, and the kind of challenge that tests your legs and your heart in equal measure.

And alongside our experienced seniors, we had something just as special…

One of our Under 13 Girls racing at her very first National Championships. To go from local races to the biggest cross-country event in the country takes courage. That first time standing on a national start line in an amber vest is something you never forget.

From junior to senior, first-timer to seasoned championship racer β€” this is what makes our club special. We compete at the highest level, but we do it together. Thanks and Sedgefield Harriers for an excellent event.

That’s inspiration.
That’s development.

Fast 5K Action This Week πŸ’¨πŸ’›πŸ–€

Three cracking 5K performances from Holmfirth Harriers this week β€” speed very much on show.

πŸ”₯ Ben (MV40) – 15:28
6th overall and 1st MV40 with a huge 87.5% age grade. Outstanding running.

πŸ”₯ Joseph (MSEN) – 15:59
Under 16 minutes and strong in a competitive senior field.

πŸ”₯ Thomas (MU20) – 17:00
Almost breaking 17 minutes and flying the flag for the U20s.

From vets to seniors to juniors stepping up, it’s brilliant to see strength right across the age groups.
