Steve Miles Sea Kayaking is run by Steve Miles a ISKGA (International Sea Kayak Guide Association) Advanced guide and trainer, BCU level 2 coach and BCU 5 star, and also regularly coaches at symposiums around the UK . Steve's love of the sea started at a very young age helping out his father on local fishing boats, and later upon leaving school, working on the fishing trawlers himself. Steve love

s to be out on the water, and has paddled the coastline of Anglesey for 30+ years. Steve's adventures have taken him as far as Greenland, The Roof Of Britain and recently a circumnavigation of Ireland in 34 days. We put our local knowledge to good use, and are passionate about Sea Kayaking and love passing this experience and knowledge on in a fun and friendly way. Anglesey being and island means we can always find some where to kayak what ever the weather, making the most of its fantastic coast. From sheltered bays ideally suited to beginners, to more challenging waters around our famous headlands more suited to the advanced paddler. We offer courses from Introductory and Discover Sea Kayaking through to Intermediate and Advanced, plus bespoke courses. We also run expeditions each year, a circumnavigation of Anglesey and the the hidden gem which is the Far North East coast of Scotland with its abundance of sea birds and wild life, Geos and cavernous cave systems, a truly magical place. In 2005 Steve realised a lifelong dream in 2005 when he started working professionally as an outdoor instructor, splitting his time between coasteering, and sea kayak guiding and coaching. This mix of coasteering and kayaking has led to a love of paddling and coaching in what some refer to as the ‘impact zone’, helping people gain confidence and skills in boat handling and managing incidents in the most unforgiving of our sea paddling environments. We offer certificated ISKGA Incident management and sea survival courses, amongst others. During this time I have also become a sponsored NDK paddler, proud to be supported by another product of Anglesey. Hope to see you on the water soon!

Fantastic 2 days with Ali and Simon, they requested some tides and currents for the weekend. As always Anglesey provides, day 1 Ali picked her brand new very pretty sparkly NDK Pilgrim Expedition from the NDK factory, we put it through its paces at Harry Furlough rocks, and some tide race action. Day 2 saw us on the Menai Straits surfing standing waves and eddy hopping our way between play spots, thanks for a wonderful weekend Ali and Simon.

The section of coast from Borthwen to Treath Llydan ( Silver Bay ) is often neglected for its more exciting cousin to the west , Rhoscolyn Beacon with its strong tidal flows and races. If there is some swell running, a quick look at the charts for the area indicates it’s relatively shallow to the east of Borthwen, which lifts the swell as it finds its way around the rocks and gullies, making for some wonderful rockhopping and surfing at Treath Llydan, I often venture here for a quiet evening on the water with friends, with little tidal flows we can relax chat and concentrate on the fun.
Thank you to Ashley and Mirco for a wonderful evening .
