Our History

Holmes Chapel Shooting Ground started in the mid 1960's and was run as a English Sporting ground for many years by the late Clifford Norbury who was well renowned for his shooting prowess, we would regularly have entries of ups to 250, we held the Wi******er English selection shoot for the Northwest in the 1990’s & regularly held the Cheshire ESP Championship. ast ten years due to ill health shooting has been put on hold but we are happy and excited to announce that Holmes Chapel Shooting Ground will be reopening soon as a specialist DTL facility offering Registered 100 bird competition. over two layouts, using the very latest in trap technology from Pro-Matic. Holmes Chapel Shooting Ground is still run by the same family, David Hurstfield who has competed at a high level over the years has extensive knowledge of DTL discipline, has been working hard to re establish a high class range for the professional trap shooter. We are ideally based in the Cheshire countryside close to Junction 18 of the M6 motorway.

We would like to say a big Thankyou to Gorrel Equipment Solutions Ltd and Matt Wilkinson for sponsoring our Anniversary shoot on the 28th of June. The £200 pounds will be distributed as follows, £100 towards high gun and £20 towards first place in each class.

We would also like to say a huge Thankyou to Tom Young Continental Shooting Supplies who has donated 1000 cartridges towards the high gun prize for Shoot Cancer Down on the 27th of June.

Hull cartridges will be having a stand on the Saturday and Sunday of the shoot and we are possibly looking at making a stand for you to come and try the steel cartridges ! More information to follow!

In all it was a great day apart from a peskey wind that wasn't helpful with the targets!
But that wasn't a problem for our High Gun of the day with a fantastic prformance putting in 100/299, well shot Iwan Mills!!!!!!
We had some shooters from further a field so thanks to them for travelling up from Devon !

What a cracking day to be shooting DTL, couldnt get much better!!, A lot of our regular shooters were up at Bywell this weekend so our numbers were down, but the quality of shooting deffinately was not!, with great scores coming in all the classes.
