π§ββοΈ FINAL CHALLENGE β JUNIOR LEADERS π§ββοΈ
The final challenge for our Junior Leaders used climbing to deliberately elicit a fear response β and then develop the personal qualities required to overcome it. π₯
Our Junior Leaders were trained in the safe use of climbing equipment and completed supervised climbs on the wall, starting with simple routes and progressing to higher climbs with increasing complexity and difficulty. β¬οΈπͺ’
This is why. π
As human beings, we are born with only two innate physical fears: loud noises π and heights π§ β¬οΈ.
The fear of heights is deeply embedded in us. Learning to recognise fear β and choosing to move forward anyway β is a powerful act of personal leadership.
π₯ FEAR is the FARE you must pay to travel to the next, enhanced version of yourself.
(The words even share the same origin.)
As sports psychology guru Timothy Gallwey reminds us:
π Performance = Potential β Interference
Quieting the inner voice π£οΈ, managing internal conflict βοΈ, and bringing full focus π― to solving the puzzle on the wall is world-class training β for leaders, managers, athletes, and anyone who wants better outcomes in life.
π The worldβs most elite military units use height work for these exact reasons.
Leadership starts with personal leadership β stepping beyond the comfort zone π
π Our Junior Leaders this year did exactly that. They stepped forward, led their peers, and faced their fears head-on.
π Saturdayβs final challenge stands as a powerful reminder of what this year has been about.
Bravo and congratulations to you all! π―π
