Another busy weekend of Tours

This weekend, Club members are taking on the Worcestershire and Norfolk Tour with 3 members of staff taking part in the former (it would've been 4 if another one had hurried up finishing his car off). Are you taking part and if so, what car are you taking?

Vila Real Portugal July 10, 11, & 12th

Club member James Miles is part of organising a grid at Vila Real in Portugal, which is the home of speed, sun and fun. They have a Historic Grid and pride of place in the paddock.

It’s open to all historic race cars and promises to be an epic weekend with Gala Dinner and lots more. If you have ever thought of racing a true street circuit, look no further, a full-on international event with all the trimmings to go with it.

The Portuguese love their motorsport, and the circuit history dates back to 1936. Go and race against the giants of Historic Motorsport from Bugattis to Austins, it will have them all.

Entries are now open. Please find below entry details for the Historic Grid at Villa Real in Portugal. In brief, it consists of two 25-minute practices and two twenty-minute races between the 10th and 12th July.

📣 Deadline now extended!!! 📣

The VSCC were delighted to accept the invitation to join Diff’s Award and are pleased to share details of this year’s Simon Diffey Heritage Motorsport Apprentice Award, an exciting opportunity for an apprentice who dreams of going motor racing and has shown real talent, passion, enthusiasm and commitment during their apprenticeship.

The award is open to eligible apprentices studying automotive heritage engineering or coachbuilding, and the prize includes a one-month secondment with a Heritage Motorsport team during the 2027 race season, £3,000 towards subsistence and travel, the opportunity to take the ARDS test at Silverstone, race kit, a helmet, mentoring, and further opportunities within historic motorsport.

To apply, you must:
• Be aged at least 18 and no older than 26
• Be an existing apprentice in full-time employment
• Have completed at least one full year with your employer
• Be financially dependent and not already supported to go racing
• Hold a current passport and be willing to live and work away from home for one month
during summer 2027
• Have your application authorised and signed off by your employer

Applications must be submitted by midday on Friday 26th June 2026. Please contact [email protected] for an application form.

You will need to complete the application form, score yourself in the four categories of engineering, passion, enthusiasm and exceptional commitment as a team player, and include a separate typed 100-word statement explaining why you should be considered for the award.

Please note that finalists must be available for an in-person interview with the judges at the Royal Automobile Club, Woodcote Park, Epsom, on Sunday 19th July 2026. The winner will be announced on Friday 24th July 2026, with the award presentation taking place on Wednesday 30th September 2026 at the Royal Automobile Club, Pall Mall.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the right apprentice. If you feel you meet the criteria and would like to be considered, please read the attached application form carefully and speak to your employer as soon as possible, as their approval and signature are required.

We are pleased to support tonight’s Girls on Track UK webinar, which will shine a light on classic and historic motorsport and the many ways people can get involved.

Historic motorsport is about far more than preserving cars. It is about skills, stories, community and making sure the next generation can see a way in.

VSCC Club Secretary Tania Brown will be joining the panel alongside representatives from StarterMotor Charity and the Historic Sports Car Club.
