We've got NICAS courses coming up over the next couple of months.

Level 2 teaches belaying and fundamental movement skills.
Level 3 focuses on the use of assisted breaking devices and wide range of climbing techniques.

These are instructor-led classes so parents don’t need to be present throughout the session, although welcome to observe. The minimum age is 9. For future dates see the website.

We've got lots of NICAS coming up over the next couple of months across level 2, 3 and 4!

Level 2 teaches belaying and fundamental movement skills.
Level 3 focuses on the use of assisted breaking devices and wide range of climbing techniques.
Level 4 teach young people to lead climb with an aim of independence from 14+.

These are instructor-led classes so parents don’t need to be present throughout the session, although welcome to observe. The minimum age is 9. For future dates see the website.

Want to start climbing? Our NICAS Foundation Climber courses are designed to build the foundations of strong, independent climbers.

NICAS level 2 runs for 12 weeks on Mondays or Thursdays. Level 2 focuses on developing the skills for belaying and developing core movement and technique. These are instructor-led classes so parents don’t need to be present throughout the session, although welcome to observe. The minimum age is 8. For future dates see the website.

Want to join our awesome and award winning volunteer team? We are looking for new instructors to help us on Mondays and Thursdays.

What do we need from you?
1) To be a signed off climber at Climb Hitchin (not climbed with us? Come along and have a go!)
2) Aged 18+
3) Friendly, enthusiastic approach to helping others
4) Commitment to volunteering for a minimum of 2 sessions per month

What can we do for you?
1) Train you as an Instructor at Climb Hitchin
2) Instruct at 3 sessions and get a free climbing session
3) Social get-togethers and climbing sessions with fellow Climb Hitchin team members
4) Opportunity to develop skills and partake in further training
5) Lots of fun!

We would particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic volunteers as they are currently under-represented within our instructor group.

NICAS level 2 runs for 12 weeks on Mondays or Thursdays. Level 2 focuses on developing the skills for belaying and developing core movement and technique.
NICAS level 3 runs for 32 weeks on Mondays or Thursdays. Level 3 introduces new belay devices and a major push on developing the movement and technique to get the most out of your climbing.
These are instructor-led classes so parents don’t need to be present throughout the session, although welcome to observe. The minimum age is 8. You can book via the website:

Women who climb 💪 For those who think climbing is only for those who have upper body strength... WRONG!

Climbing is great for building Cardiovascular health, Bone strength and Muscle strength!

Also amazing for confidence and self-esteem, focus and reduced brain fog (those who know know!!) and for
stress reduction and well-being 🥰

Its also more important to have strong legs and good footwork over upper body strength 👊 You're welcome 😊 🙏
