Did you see Demi Moore’s acceptance speech earlier this week at the Golden Globes?

If you missed it, Demi ended her speech by saying “In those moments when we don’t think we’re smart enough or pretty enough or skinny enough or successful enough or basically just not enough, I had a woman say to me, ‘Just know you will never be enough, but you can know the value of your worth if you just put down the measuring stick.’

I’ve been really thinking about this over the last 24 hours… what are the measuring sticks that we are using all the time that are diminishing our sense of worth? It could be your salary, the house you have, the amount of praise or recognition you get, the amount of attention you get from someone, whether someone asks how you are…

When you really sit down and think about it- some of these things will be like dripping taps, almost invisible, but coming together bit by bit to diminish your sense of worth. As we head into 2025 maybe worth acknowledging what they are and giving yourself permission to be enough without them, so you can go ahead and put that measuring stick down xx

This was mine and one of my close friend’s mottos of 2024 and it’s definitely coming into 2025 with me… so much so that I’ve designed this print to go onto my wall.

In coaching I often talk with my clients about the excuses we may make for rescuing people or for allowing them to consistently fall short against our expectations. This quote by is a powerful reminder of our worth, of the need to let others stand on their own two feet and that we can and should feel empowered to look for people to meet us where we are…

Saw this quote the other day and it stopped me in my tracks… I needed it as a reminder that the task is not going to get easier just because you leave it for longer- if anything it may well get worse.

So go on- tick those hard to do things off your to do list now- ignore that false story you’re telling yourself that you’ll do them later- you won’t. Bite the bullet and get them done now.

The older I get the more I truly treasure those people that do this for me, and I hope that I return the favour and do it for them as well. If the world is knocking you to the ground a bit at the moment, scream and cry if you need to and then get back up and straighten that crown as one thing is for sure, you do not belong down there. Happy Friday everyone xx

I don’t know about you but today has been hard work to get myself back into the right headspace to be productive after time off for Easter… I have found that this word really helps me…

I can get overwhelmed by the enormity of what I have to do… but if I can just “begin” that is always the hardest part of the battle!

Happy weekend and start of the Easter school holidays!!

I hope you get chance to rest, recharge and recover… if you have small children, I hope the coffee is strong and the soft play is quiet!!

As a coach I’d always advocate getting comfortable with saying no… however I recognise that sometimes it is hard to actually say the word. So for those times when you need to create a ‘no’ but would prefer not to say the word… I hope these different options might help!

Maybe it’s because I watched the Batman Lego movie at the weekend with my daughter… but I’ve got superpowers on my mind…

In work we often talk about strengths but I tend to ask my coaching clients to think about their superpowers instead as I find it helps them to think about the question differently…

So what is it that you bring that others don’t? What’s your superpower?

On Monday’s I do most of my leadership teaching and often end the day with a fire in my belly to support people to believe in themselves more as leaders… because, if as Quincy-Adams said- leadership is about inspiring others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more… why not you?

I think sometimes we assume that there is someone else over there, better equipped, better trained, who has more legitimacy or more right to be a leader… but why shouldn’t it be you? Leadership is in all of us… we all have the ability to develop ourselves, so that we can inspire and develop others. When you hear yourself saying “yeah but why should it be me?” Try and reframe that question to “why not me?”

In coaching over the last few months these themes come up often… this pressure to always be on the go, to be superhuman, to have infinite time and resources and patience… remember that it is ok to put yourself first and say no…

Scroll right…

I don’t know about you but it’s about now on a Sunday night, when settling down to watch some TV, that I always find my mind drifting to the week ahead and changes I might want to make in my life…

I feel grateful that I currently have a mixture of jobs that I enjoy and my Sunday dread is minimal, but I remember years and years of Sunday nights feeling absolutely terrible!

If you are feeling dread and just aren’t sure how to make things feel different - consider coaching… it was pivotal in my life to help me have the space to consider what my goals were for work and life, and how to find my way through all the tricky decisions to make that life a reality.

As you head into your week, remember that your life is your story, no-one else’s, write your story well and importantly give yourself permission and space to edit it often xx
