On Sunday 26 April 2026 - Graduation Day - some Bury town centre roads will be closed, and others will be restricted to ensure the Gallipoli Parade takes place safely.

⛔ Road closures: 10.30am - 2.00pm

🚗 No parking/waiting restrictions: 7.00am - 2.00pm

Allow more time to travel to & from Graduation

The Seasonal Cycle of Mastery

​❄️ Stage 1: White Belt (Winter)
​The Theme: Emptiness & Purity.
​The Mindset: Just as a field lies dormant under the snow, the student is a "blank slate." There is no ego or preconceived notion of combat—only the hidden potential waiting for the first thaw.

​🌱 Stage 2: Green Belt (Spring)
​The Theme: Growth & Sprouting.
​The Mindset: This is the "expansion" phase. The student has survived the initial cold of being a novice and is now rapidly absorbing new techniques. Like a seedling pushing through dirt, this stage requires the most energy and visible effort.

​☀️ Stage 3: Red Belt (Summer)
​The Theme: Ripening & Power.
​The Mindset: Summer is the season of peak intensity. The student is now physically strong and technically proficient, but they must learn to control that "heat." It’s about tempering raw power into refined skill before it burns out.

​🍂 Stage 4: Midnight Blue Belt (Autumn)
​The Theme: Maturity & Harvest.
​The Mindset: In many traditional styles, Midnight Blue is used instead of Black because "black" represents a finality or death, whereas Midnight Blue represents the deep, infinite sky. It is a time of harvesting knowledge and moving from the "active" struggle of the student to the "passive" wisdom of a leader.

​A Note on "Midnight Blue": Using this color instead of Black is a humble reminder that the journey is never truly finished; there is always more depth to be found in the "night sky" of the art.

Tang Soo Do T-Shirt & Hoodie Design Competition – Overview

We’re excited to announce a Tang Soo Do T-Shirt & Hoodie Design Competition open to ALL students! This is your chance to showcase your creativity, FMAC spirit, and love for all things Tang Soo Do by designing the front or back of a T-shirt or hoodie that represents our martial arts community.

Students are invited (by the end of February) to submit an original design inspired by Tang Soo Do - this could include elements such as martial arts values, traditional symbols, movement, strength, discipline, or modern creative interpretations. The goal is to create a design that students would be proud to wear both inside and outside the Do Jang.

The winning design will be professionally developed and turned into an official Tang Soo Do T-shirt or hoodie that will be made available for purchase by all students. In addition, the winner will receive their own custom T-shirt or hoodie featuring their design as a special prize.

This competition is a great opportunity to combine creativity with martial arts spirit, contribute to FMAC’s apparel, and leave your mark on our Tang Soo Do community. We encourage all students to participate and have fun expressing what Tang Soo Do means to them!
