💜 Happy Founder’s Day PB! 💜

The 8th May, 1982, Pat Barker Academy of Dance opened at St John’s Ambulance Hall in Hinckley with just 11 pupils and since that time Miss Pat and her teachers have taught over 1000 aspiring dancers with many going on to professional dance careers.

It was Miss Pat’s dream to share her talent for dance and her love for teaching pupils and today Miss Rachael and the PB team continue that dream as we enter our 44th year!

Guess the name of the Jellycat was a big hit and congratulations to Emily Szabo from our Junior dance section who won a Bartholomew Bear Jellycat by guessing the correct name ‘Zoe’

IDTA Tap & Modern Exam Presentation

Back in November last year a group of dancers took 52 IDTA (International Dance Teachers’ Association) Tap and Modern Dance exams between them. We’re absolutely delighted and couldn’t be prouder of their achievements. Overall there were 40 Distinctions and 12 Merits - an amazing set of extremely high results.

Some of our younger dancers took their very first tap exams and it was a delight to see them receive their certificates and plaques. And a special mention goes to three of our senior dancers, Reebie, Lucy and Saara, who all gained Distinctions in the L3 vocational graded ‘Intermediate’ Tap exam (a professional qualification which is regulated by Ofqual and worth 20 UCAS points!)

Our three Grade 3 Tap exam girls achieved the highest scores of the session. Well done to India, Amelie and Evie, who all scored 92/100 and Distinctions, with Evie also receiving the highest mark overall, 94 for her modern exam.

All our dancers are absolute superstars and there were lots of smiles from them all when receiving their certificates and plaques today.

But, of course, lots of hard work goes on behind the scenes by our dedicated teachers Miss Beckie and Miss Pippa whose experience and teaching enables our dancers to thrive. A massive thank you both 🙏
