Stalemate in Oadby as Borough start the season with a Draw away from home. Hinckley took the lead after a dominating lively start, coming close on numerous occasions before Leo Ireson finished well after some good build up play. Leo Ireson, Rhys Bath, Oliver Moore and Noel Hancock having good chances to add to the score line. Oadby grew into the game after 15 minutes or so, but the only big chances were really for Hinckley. The game became a little scrappy after the break and chances dried up. The really small pitch meant play was frantic and a little end to end without clear cut opportunities or any real football being played. Oadby levelled with their only real chance of the game when Hinckley failed to cut out a cross-field ball, the winger lobbing the ball high over the keeper and agonising bouncing in off the post. Hinckley pushed on for a winner but never really created a clear cut opportunity in the second half other than looking dangerous from corners. A slightly disappointing result, one Oadby will definitely be happier with, but a point away from home on a really small pitch on the first game of the season is a solid start

Last Sunday Hinckley concluded their preseason fixtures with a 2-2 draw against Whetstone. Hinckley went 2 goals ahead through goals from Leo Ireson and Rhys Bath. Trying out different personnel in positions and testing different formations, Borough lost their way a little and conceded 2 goals during the 2nd 30 minutes meaning full time honours were shared. A good run out for Hinckley though, and some fantastic dominant play in the first 30 minutes or so.

Today Hinckley hosted Harborough Town in their penultimate pre-season friendly.
Borough tried out 3 different formations in a game which was played in 4 quarters to help with some tactical switches throughout for both sides. Hinckley looked comfortable in all formations, the better side in 3 of the 4 quarters, struggling a little in the 2nd where they were getting overrun a little in the middle and struggled to get out and up the pitch, however still remained competitive. They controlled the other 3 quarters well though, and overall deserved the win. Harborough went ahead when Borough caused their own issue in Q2, the Harborough player finishing well. Hinckley hit back in Q3 through Oliver Moore, who was strong before finishing well, and got the winner in Q4 when Ethan Steane found the winner from close range getting the ball over the line at the 2nd attempt. Hinckley had chances throughout to get a few more and on the whole defended well, restricting Harborough to minimal half chances. The result didn’t really matter today but it’s always good to get in to the winning mentality and also to be confident you can come back from going behind.

Last Sunday Hinckley hosted AFC Andrew’s in their 3rd preseason friendly.
Hinckley went a deserved 2 nil up in the first 20 minutes with a well worked team goal that was finished off by Leo Ireson, before Oliver Moore finished from the edge of the box to make it 2. AFC Andrews hit back after some poor Hinckley defending, failing to clear the ball on multiple occasions and then equalising from the penalty spot.
A good first 20 minutes from Borough, sloppy 2nd 20, and a positive final period in which saw Hinckley dominate but not be able to capitalise.

Not the best performance from Hinckley today as they continued their pre-season work this morning against Allexton & New Parks. It was a hot morning on an extremely hard pitch but Hinckley never really settled in to any rhythm and didn’t get a foot on the ball to get some of the passing football going that they can do. Allexton took the lead just over halfway through the game from the penalty spot. Neither team created a great deal throughout until the last 10 minutes when Borough upped the anti and scored 3 goals in that period, the first coming from a header by Oliver Moore from a Joey Gee corner. A few minutes later Oliver Moore returned the favour, squaring the ball to Joey Gee to put Youth ahead. A few minutes later Ethan Steane scored directly from a corner, curling a dangerous corner up and over the goalkeeper. Not the best game but Hinckley found a way to win when not at their best. More minutes in the legs with a couple missing.

Just 3 days after returning to pre-season training Hinckley played their first warm up game of 26/27, hosting Melton Town. Hinckley suffered a 3-1 defeat after going ahead early through Leo Ireson. Hinckley had plenty of chances and could have scored a good few more. Melton were a good side but were restricted to a limited amount of chances really but made the most of some of Hinckley’s errors. A good first game back though, with 2 good sides playing some nice football at times, score not important today and some really good signs already ahead of the new season.
