Evolution

Family hike at the Pokemon TCG Mega Evolution Trail Hughenden in the Chilterns. It took a while but we managed to catch em all!

To seek improvement, to be better than yesterday, to have the courage to pivot or change direction. To consciously choose to do things differently. To step out of our comfort zone and take the harder trail. To not settle and to have no regrets. To opt for growth when you truely know that something no longer serves you. Because you know your worth. It's hearing that constant whisper that never leaves you. It's dreaming about it and it keeps reoccuring. It's there inside of you for a reason. So we are obliged to act on it. To chase it. To own and embace it. This is where we evolve.

Past

First continuous 10k in over 8 months - around the beautiful setting of Osterley Park House. I fancied a little stroll this Thurday morning. The knee didnt complain so we took it further!

Growing up closeby my parents would bring us here in the past when we were kids. Memories of playing games on the grass & summer picnics in front of this stumning buiding make me smile.

Like rereading an old book, or revisitng a place from our past, things are different - they remain the same but we are different. You never step in the same river twice, they say.

It's good to respect and reflect on the past but not be bound by it. We can use it as fuel to push us forward.

I've done it in the past, I can get there again...

Beacon

Sunday morning hike around Tring. The views from Ivinghoe Beacon were a bit misty & obstructed. But it was just pure joy to be back out in the Chilterns.

Sometimes it's tricky navigating towards our goals. It's been 6 to 7 months since my miniscus thing so days have looked very different than before.

The perspective of: 'Life happens for you not against you' is one that resonates with me. Through challenging times it can be difficult to know if we are doing the right thing or heading in the right direction. Whether to persist or resist? But it's in our response and how we react. It's the charachter we show and the values we hold. The obstacle is the way.

Though there has been a long pause in running, I like to think there has been growth in other areas - actually focusing on work for once, being more present as a dad & husband. And though I wouldn't have consciously chose these last few months, I"ve tried to embrace them, to be better somehow. I have faith that this season i am slowly coming out of will be something I will draw from. It will be a piece of a puzzle that will fit later down the road. I just dont know it or can't see it yet.

Ever since I started trail running, I have had this visualisation of "running" in the Chamonix Valley. (We got pretty close last September!). Through the daily mundane knee exercises, strength workouts and the current 2 minutes of jogging between 3 minutes of walking - it has been this vision acting as a beacon that will get me back doing the thing I love to do!

Depth

Like many around this time of year I naturally tend to think about goals, aims, objectives, resolutions or whatever the word is which best suits striving for something.

I have learnt overtime that the result or outcome won't be the thing that matters but the process and the journey is where I'll find the most meaning - the way I grow, the character I show and the tiny consistent bricks I build day after day will be the thing of value.

And although, I don't have the specifics quite nailed down, I know the theme for this year will be 'To Build' (or Rebuild!). Also, I know the direction I want to travel. There will be much fewer priorities - Loved ones, Health and the Trails...simple! Less distractiions!

It will be about depth not width. Focusing on the things that really move me.

This beautiful morning family hike around Claremont Gardens set the tone for 2026.

Year

Finishing up the year with a New Years Eve family trail around the lovely Polesden Lacey.

I'm so grateful for the experiences & journey of 2025 - the ups, the downs & the lessons that have come my way. I've tried to embrace it all. I now look forward to 2026 with intention & optimism!

Need

'Did I Kneed This' - My latest scribblings from the Running2Resonate Substack. Link in Bio.

In between the current cycles of knee exercises & elliptical bike, I felt the need to consume, express & create in long form.

I've added a few of my favourite Insta writings from the past where I pretentiously rambled on about trail running. I use to do this a lot, and so I felt like experimenting once again.

Also, it was fun to record voice audios for each piece. I f***ed it up so many times!!!
