HGSA are disappointed to have to report a serious incident that recently occurred at the sports club.
A group of teenage children started a fire on club premises during one of our busy Friday night Foodie Fridays/All Stars Cricket sessions, creating a potentially dangerous situation and placing both people and property at risk.
Thankfully, the incident was dealt with before more serious consequences occurred. However, it serves as an important reminder of the responsibilities we all share in ensuring that the club remains a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.
During the Beer & Music Festival this year, a substantial amount of alcohol was confiscated by security from teenagers entering the event too. This will NOT be tolerated at HGSA on any occasion.
The sports club is a community facility used by members of all ages, including young children, families, volunteers, and the elderly. Activities such as lighting fires, vandalism, or engaging in unsafe behaviour can have serious consequences, including injury, damage to property, and risks to the wider community.
We would therefore like to remind all parents and guardians that children should not be at the sports club unaccompanied unless they are attending a supervised activity. If you bring children to the club, please ensure they
remain under appropriate supervision at all times.
We ask that you speak with your children about respecting the club, its facilities, and other members. The vast majority of young people who visit the club behave responsibly, and we appreciate the support of parents in
helping us maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all.
Unfortunately, if any of this behaviour occurs again we will have to look at those involved facing suspension or ban from HGSA and its facilities.
Situations such as this are extremely disappointing and divert valuable time
and resources away from the positive activities and services the club aims to provide. By working together, we can help prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
Thank you for your understanding, support, and cooperation.
