We all make mistakes…
Even when we should know better
So here’s my tale of woe from this week where I did not and have not listened to my body…
And then been surprised when it has gone 💥🌋
I’m now on steroids to treat a severe allergic reaction and from the pharmacist to the GP to the A&E doctor the message has been the same..
The body has a tolerance for stress whether it be physical or emotional…there is a finite point at which it can’t keep the basic systems functioning optimally whilst also being under external load…and it will let you know when it needs a break.
I have been aware of the odd thing not feeling ‘quite right’ for a few weeks…heaviness, fatigue, struggling to focus, but because I had a day at the spa, had an easier day at work, took a day off from the gym but walked instead, I just assumed I was managing the load well.
But the stress of the last few months plus the stress of training and the stress of a few other things playing on my mind has meant that I’ve kept using petrol from the tank that was rapidly running out.
Which meant it didn’t take much for my CNS to essentially breakdown.
I needed a severe allergic reaction and fainting in public for me to realise that I fu**ed up and get myself to hospital and take 2 days off work on an already short week.
This is not ideal…
But…another day of looking like s**t, another day of not being able to serve my clients, another day of just plugging on…means I am now actively going against any advice I would give to anyone I work with…
So for now, read my story and just check in with yourself…when was the last time you listened to what your body told you? When did you last check in on how you felt emotionally?
What can you do now to give yourself what you need?
The end…
