Ok, so yet another startup video of the V4😝 it's making progress honestly! I have to remind myself how much experimental stuff there is on the bike, and when things don't work there's often quite literally nobody else to ask - I get blank stares from people regularly. However, on this occasion things have worked out differently! I've been struggling to get the air clutch to react quickly and consistently enough to work, it was just too slow, and for a while i contemplated having to dump the idea completely and go for a simple mechanical clutch which is easier said than done, and would undoubtedly require pretty much a new chassis and complete rethink. NO!! So anyway, i reached out to Mark Harrison at Horsepower Factory, Mark has experience from setting up the clutch on the Storm Funnybike and was happy to help. So today we tried a new setup in the Maxxecu and what a transformation! It's gone from reacting too slow to actually too fast! .... which is brilliant and much more reassuring when it comes to the thought of riding it, it needs some tweaking still, but my hopes that it might work have been restored 😁 Still no burnout (sorry), but it's teetering on the edge ..... honestly.
In other news, the wizard dry sump conversion is making small steps, the oil pump mount is made, and the piggyback fuel pump drive is finished. Now to make 5 bespoke fittings for the oil pump to enable plumbing in and out - it's tight!

Weird how things work out! From having the poster on my wall as an 18 year old to ending up riding it, and now having it in my workshop and machining new engine cases for it. 🤷

I think it's officially the end of hibernation day! It's 8 degrees outside, sunny and my jacket stayed hung up in the house this morning.

Since I got rid of my van back in early November I've had all the stuff that lived in there piled up almost to the roof in the workshop, the gazebo, tow bike, lights, fridge, microwave, kitchen sink etc etc. Unbelievable how much space it all takes up, and making it very difficult to actually do anything, and generally just pi***ng me off.

But now that my trailer conversion is almost complete I've been able to move almost all of the paraphernalia back in, and today I've finally been able to get the V4 off the workbench onto the floor where it normally lives on its stands. Being a pretty looking thing though - I thought it best to wheel it outside first and get some photos for this post 😁

I get asked a lot when it will actually be out on the track, and it's sat waiting to go is the honest answer. The plan for it this year is to take it to the test days that are usually held before each race meeting, and try and run it. I might also do a run what you brung or two if I get chance. But the race meetings themselves I'll be riding the imperial wizard once again. The Wizard is far from ready too - we only got the conods and cylinder sleeves in the last week or two, so there's going to be some work to do to get that ready!

I'm sick of looking for 28mm valve buckets so thought it worth asking on here if anyone knows which bikes (or cars) use 28mm diameter shimless valve buckets/followers. Min 22mm deep, 3mm - 3.6mm top thickness.
Busa ones are too short.

All set up at Santa pod for the national finals. The imperial wizard, is all ready after the issue we had at the euros 2 weeks ago, and now joined by Ryan Davidson's new toy - the ex Nick Millburn/Eric Teboul top fuel bike.
