Tynedale Archers (Est:24/02/2013) are a friendly community archery club based in West Northumberland and affiliated to Archery GB. Our members are all ages from 8yrs and upwards and from recent beginners to experienced archers using Recurve, Barebow and longbow along with other traditional bows. We meet on Sunday mornings outdoors (weather permitting!) at St Joseph's Middle School, Hexham. During

BST we shoot on Thursday evenings also at St Joseph's Middle School. During the winter, we shoot indoors at Queen Elizabeth High School, Hexham (Saturday afternoons)

Anyone interested in becoming a member must do a beginners course or be a member of Archery GB. If your membership of Archery GB has lapsed you can still join Tynedale Archers/Archery GB by doing one of our refresher courses.

A group of pupils joined the Tynedale Archers this half term, and it’s been wonderful to see how much they have enjoyed trying archery for the first time.
During the first few sessions, we supported them with loading the arrows and showed them how to aim and hold the bow correctly. They picked up these skills very quickly, and by week three they were confidently shooting independently.
In weeks 4 and 5, the pupils were given the opportunity to work towards a 252 badge, which is a recognised award achieved by scoring over 189 with 36 arrows at 10 yards. I’m delighted to share that seven pupils were successful and have been awarded their badge.
As you can see from the photo, all pupils received a certificate to celebrate their participation and effort throughout the course.

We hope the children have enjoyed the experience as much as we have and we look forward to hopefully running another course later in the year.

Good Morning.
