After a close first half it was level at HT, but we started finding the net in the second half and ran out comfortable winners.
We started bright and dominated possession with Grant Cameron pulling the strings, while Jack Macneil had 2 early efforts blocked.
Corbridge looked dangerous on the counter as we piled men forward and John Walton had to be called into action as he expertly tipped one round the post.
We found a breakthrough on 25 mins when T.Wilson broke through on the right before squaring for Forsyth, who in turn teed up a flu-stricken Wishy to slot home. 0-1.
Just before HT, Corbridge were level as a corner wasn’t dealt with, and a second ball came all the way across to their winger who fired in. 1-1.
HT.
We kicked on in the second half and took advantage of a few Corbridge errors over a 15 minute spell which put us out of sight.
Firstly Forsyth was gifted a loose pass and unselfishly squared to strike partner T.Wilson, who kept his nerve and buried the chance. 1-2.
Wishart then added his second, as he tucked away a rebound from a T.Wilson parried effort. 1-3.
Forsyth then got in on the act, picking up a clearance by the keeper and casually lifting it back past him into an empty net. 1-4.
Local reporter Wishy was already writing the back page spread, as he broke through the Corbridge defence and scored with a cracking finish, to complete his first ever hatrick including junior football and playing at the local park. 1-5.
Olly Scott replaced Mr 7/10 Nick MacNeil and looked a danger down the right from the off. He was next to get in on the act when T.Wilson fed the winger like one of his lambs and Scott fired into the far corner from a narrow angle. 1-6.
Kareem Turnbull, Alex Carr and Harry Weatherhead came on as the half wore on, with the latter needing some minutes in the legs ahead of his blockbuster basketball clash that afternoon.
Burlton got the last one with a deflected effort heading for the village to round off the scoring. 1-7.
Credit to Corbridge who kept going and created more chances towards the end of the game but found Andy Hall and Jake Thompson in their way, and Walton in good form, despite a darts hangover.
FT.
This Sunday is our penultimate game as we host Prudhoe Town FC Sunday, followed by a bank holiday session, which Sam Wilson has already been told he can’t invite the girlfriend out for.
