FPL Result:

Just an update on the first Wark FC FPL league with the Premier League season now finished.
Nick MacNeil scooped the prize money after finishing a very impressive 392nd in the world 😳, he has far too much spare time on that harvester.
To be fair the top 3 were fairly clear of the rest…

🥇Nick MacNeil - 2465
🥈Niall Buchanan - 2405
🥉Tom Norman - 2388

Jack Paterson took home the wooden spoon and will be singing as the players emerge at the next match he attends 🎤.

🔵⚪️🏁 SEASON OVER 🏁🔵⚪️

Just want to say a big thank you to all the players, staff, supporters and everyone who has sponsored us in some shape or form this season! Wouldn’t be able to keep going season on season, without everyone playing their part! 🙌🏼🙌🏼

This season we got off to a flyer winning the first 4 and reached the Minor Cup quarters, before hitting a blip, sometimes struggling for numbers, but then regrouped and won 4 of the last 6 in the league!

We’ll be on the lookout again for sponsors ahead of next year, and anyone who fancies coming along to preseason, we will post some training updates nearer the time!

MOTM: Charlie Maughan 🌟

In our final game of the season we went down to Allendale in another close match as we missed some key players.

Chazza got us ahead with a tidy finish, after Kareem Turnbull threaded through a ball with the outside of his foot like prime De Bruyne. 1-0.

Allendale had plenty of chances as they pushed to get level but found John Walton in fine form, a saying that is heard all too often - he can certainly forget about retiring just yet.

However Allendale did get level, as stand in full back Tom Norman slid in for a tackle, but the winger cut in and scored with a good curling effort into the far corner. 1-1.

HT.

Alex Carr replaced Forsyth who went off injured as Wishart moved into the middle, while Weatherhead replaced Turnbull not long after.

Allendale went ahead on the hour as Chicken got a poachers goal from a corner. 1-2.

Jack Moore and Alex Tilley also came on for fresh legs as we kept battling and had a couple of chances, while Walton kept us in it at the other end, one tremendous save in particular denying White.

MOTM: Will Forsyth 🌟

We made it 4 wins out the last 5 on Sunday, as we beat Prudhoe on in a fully deserved win.

The first half had very few chances, as both teams cancelled each other out, while it was fairly even on the possession front.

HT.

We got the breakthrough on 55mins as Forsyth pick pocketed their midfielder, before pinging one over the top to an onrushing Scott who finished well. 1-0.

We extended our lead on 70mins as substitute Maughan picked it up about 25 yards out and rifled one into the far corner. 2-0.

Prudhoe continued to push forward but we all battled brilliantly, with Hall and Thompson epitomising that and at the heart of every challenge.
As we defended another corner, we broke away and our 2 centre halves lead the charge, with calls of ‘where’s our f****** centre halves gone’ from Adam Hall.
His brother Andy Hall was meanwhile breaking up the left and clipping one into Thompson’s path who was charging up the right, as he outmuscled the defender and prodded home. 3-0.

To their credit Prudhoe continued to come at us and they got a late consolation through skipper Driver, with a powerful header from a corner. 3-1.

FT.

Safe to say there was a few sore heads and lost phones yesterday as we all enjoyed a bank holiday session in Wark/Hexham 🍻.

Thursday sees us host Allendale Football Club in our final match of the season!

After a close first half it was level at HT, but we started finding the net in the second half and ran out comfortable winners.

We started bright and dominated possession with Grant Cameron pulling the strings, while Jack Macneil had 2 early efforts blocked.

Corbridge looked dangerous on the counter as we piled men forward and John Walton had to be called into action as he expertly tipped one round the post.

We found a breakthrough on 25 mins when T.Wilson broke through on the right before squaring for Forsyth, who in turn teed up a flu-stricken Wishy to slot home. 0-1.

Just before HT, Corbridge were level as a corner wasn’t dealt with, and a second ball came all the way across to their winger who fired in. 1-1.

HT.

We kicked on in the second half and took advantage of a few Corbridge errors over a 15 minute spell which put us out of sight.

Firstly Forsyth was gifted a loose pass and unselfishly squared to strike partner T.Wilson, who kept his nerve and buried the chance. 1-2.

Wishart then added his second, as he tucked away a rebound from a T.Wilson parried effort. 1-3.

Forsyth then got in on the act, picking up a clearance by the keeper and casually lifting it back past him into an empty net. 1-4.

Local reporter Wishy was already writing the back page spread, as he broke through the Corbridge defence and scored with a cracking finish, to complete his first ever hatrick including junior football and playing at the local park. 1-5.

Olly Scott replaced Mr 7/10 Nick MacNeil and looked a danger down the right from the off. He was next to get in on the act when T.Wilson fed the winger like one of his lambs and Scott fired into the far corner from a narrow angle. 1-6.

Kareem Turnbull, Alex Carr and Harry Weatherhead came on as the half wore on, with the latter needing some minutes in the legs ahead of his blockbuster basketball clash that afternoon.

Burlton got the last one with a deflected effort heading for the village to round off the scoring. 1-7.

Credit to Corbridge who kept going and created more chances towards the end of the game but found Andy Hall and Jake Thompson in their way, and Walton in good form, despite a darts hangover.

FT.

This Sunday is our penultimate game as we host Prudhoe Town FC Sunday, followed by a bank holiday session, which Sam Wilson has already been told he can’t invite the girlfriend out for.

MOTM: Will Forsyth🌟

Defeat last night in the derby as we never got going and although we were ahead after an hour, we didn’t create enough and let our rivals back in!

The first half was a bleak affair with neither side really offering much in the way of chances and cancelled each other out.

Jake Thompson had our best chance as a powerful header was cleared off the line by a defender, while Barrasford’s best effort came through Cave as he broke through, but was thwarted by John Walton.

HT.

We found ourselves in front on 55 mins as a slice from the keeper allowed T.Wilson to pounce and he finished well from a tight angle. 0-1.

On 70 mins Barra were level as their pacey sub sneaked up the left and cut in to finish well at Walton’s near post. 1-1.

As both teams pushed for a winner it came the way of the hosts with a well taken free-kick found Walton’s top corner. 2-1.

We pushed for an equaliser last 10 but came up short, as Joshua Burlton lashed over and Barra defended well.
Another close derby with a bumper crowd as always.

FT.

This Sunday we host Corbridge United Seniors as the fixture has been reversed.
