Final game of the season sunshine, smiles, and that unbeatable feel good factor.

This fixture should have been played three weeks ago, but when Sunderland Hockey Club Development couldn’t field a team due to injury and illness, we had a choice. Take the walkover… or do the right thing.

We rearranged. And we’re so glad we did.

Because THIS IS HOCKEY 🏑

Played in a part of the country often overlooked when it comes to England Hockey funding and spotlight, but never lacking in heart, passion, or community.

Both teams were INCREDIBLE!!

The atmosphere? Class.
Team spirit? Through the roof.
A perfect mix of youthful energy and a sprinkling of “experience” the same old faces still proudly strapping on the shinnies week in, week out.

But most importantly… it gave the next generation a chance to play, compete, and fall in love with the game.

That’s how grassroots hockey survives. That’s how it thrives right here in the North East.

Massive credit to the parents, carers, umpires, captains, coaches, and fixtures secretaries the volunteers who make all of this possible. The invisible committees that keep your clubs going!

You are the backbone of our sport we love so much!

Our Tynedale U16 Girls have reached the Tier 1 Supra Cup National Quarter Final An incredible achievement and something the whole club is hugely proud of! 🙌

We would LOVE to see as many people as possible on the sidelines to cheer the girls on and create a brilliant atmosphere! 📣

Today at Tynedale in Hexham we celebrate the incredible women and girls who make our club what it is.

From our fearless 7-year-olds picking up a stick for the first time, to our 60-something legends still charging down the pitch, every player represents the spirit of hockey: determination, teamwork and pure love of the game.

But today isn’t just about the players.

It’s about the coaches who give up their evenings, the volunteers who keep everything running, the parents freezing on the sidelines every weekend, and the teammates who become lifelong friends.

Grassroots sport like this doesn’t happen without strong, supportive women at every level playing, leading, encouraging and inspiring the next generation.

So today we celebrate every woman and girl at Tynedale Hockey Club past, present and future.

Here’s to the tackles, the laughter, the muddy socks, the car-share lifts, the sideline cheers and the lifelong friendships.

Absolute TRIUMPH at the Tynedale Sports Awards tonight! Along with Katy, Alison and Sue
We were there to celebrate our nominee, Sue, for Sportswoman of the Year. The atmosphere was electric, but nothing prepared us for the results!

We are ecstatic to confirm that Sue didn't just take home Sportswoman of the Year she completed an astonishing DOUBLE WIN, also securing the esteemed "Michael Sharman Trophy" for Sports Personality of the Year!

For all her incredible service to Tynedale Hockey and Hexham Golf Club, Sue has earned this remarkable sweep. So proud of you, Sue!!

It’s very fair to say that without Suethere simply wouldn’t be a Tynedale ladies team…
She’s passionate, determined, kind with a heart as big as a lion!

She volunteers ALOT of time to hockey, both the woman’s section and also the juniors….

Family, Hockey, Golf, rosé, spaniels and curry run through her veins and we wouldn’t change her for the world!!

I’m sure you’ll all join in with me and wish Sue a very HAPPY 21st

Played lastnight- but showing this morning on YouTube -> Channel 4 Sport at 11.30am but highlights hopefully will there too- the game vs Argentina yesterday was good too.
