What an incredible weekend of racing activity by our members in a wide variety of events both at home and abroad.
Apologies if I've missed anyone amongst the flurry of activity and results.
Edit: inevitably I did miss one. Sorry Jenn Robson - post edited to add you.
Over in Germany, David Hebden was making his Ironman debut in Hamburg. Despite some on course sabotage by a disgruntled local who scattered metal shards on the bike course causing 100s of punctures, including for David, he had a great day. He went on to successfully finish in 14hrs 24mins.
Great work David, you are an Ironman.
Over in Bolton ot was the Ironman 70.3 and we had both Danielle Scott and Alex Thornhill racing.
Dani executed her race plan perfectly and had a tremendous race to finish in 5hrs 20mins amd 5th in her Age Group. She also bagged a new PB in both the swim and run.
This performance also secured her a World Championships place in Nice later this year.
Alex was racing his first IM 70.3 event and did brilliantly to finish in almost exactly 7hrs.
Well done Alex.
Over in the US of A Phil Smith was racing the famous Escape from Alcatraz triathlon. With a notoriously difficult swim in cool water temps, Phil handled it all and finished well.
Great work Phil.
In Wales, Helen Hislop was in swimming action at the Big Bala Swim in Llyn Tegid. This is a 9km swim and Helen stormed to 3rd place overall and first non-wetsuit swimmer in a stunning 2hr 36mins.
Fantastic swimming Helen.
Dan Thompson was in the Lake District for the 245km / 152 mile Coast to Coast cycle sportive. In not particularly pleasant weather Dan successfully made it to Whitby.
Superb riding Dan.
Over in the Cotswolds, Paul Robertson was racing the Cotswold 113 middle distance Tri. Another typically solid performance by Paul finishing well.
Strong work Paul
In Chester we had a good turnout for the popular Deva Triathlon.
There were some outstanding performances by:
Victoria M E Moody-Smith , Julie Cullen , Chris Davies , Paul Thelwell , Martin Pritchard-Howarth , Anne Pritchard-Howarth (aquabike), Sam Yates and Simon Hewitt.
Plus the usual excellent travelling support from Karen Thelwell and Christine Evans
Well done everyone.
More locally it was also the Portsunlight 5 and 10km race where we had Mike, Chris Brampton, Jenn Robson and Alison Macdonald all racing .
Mike did the double, running both the 5km and the 10km, bagging himself an extra medal too.
Well done to Jenn for bagging a new PB π₯ πͺ
Further south we had Laura and Lyndsey both racing the Sprint Triathlon at Blenheim Palace in pretty wet conditions.
Well done both of you.
