Match Report

HSC Irons 1–4 Hessle Rangers
📆28.04.26
🏆League
⏰6:30pm

The Irons took to the pitch on Tuesday night determined, as always, to try and compete with the established top sides.

However, it was a difficult start. Just five minutes in, a costly mistake at right-back—an attempted pass back to the keeper—proved too slow, allowing the Rangers striker to pounce and square the ball for an easy finish.

Despite the setback, the Irons responded with intent, pushing forward in search of an equaliser. Unfortunately, they were repeatedly thwarted by a Rangers side blessed with talented players with pace and physicality. The visitors added two more goals before the break, although the Irons did manage a moment of quality in between. Sav reacted quickest to an uncleared throw-in, spinning away from his marker and slotting the ball into the bottom corner.

After halftime, encouragement from the gaffer and a tactical switch—moving Big Mo into midfield—brought renewed energy. His ability to break up play and drive forward helped link the defence with the attacking line, giving the Irons a stronger foothold in the game.

The second half saw the Irons create the better chances, but the difference showed: where a promoted side is still developing, an established Group 1 team like Rangers proved clinical. With around ten minutes remaining, Rangers added a fourth to seal the result.

A tough result, but plenty of positives to build on as the Irons continue their push forward.

**Match report**

HSC Iron v HR Azzuri

Result 1-3

A performance full of character, effort, and plenty of positives to take despite how it finished.

We were the better side for large spells of the game, especially through the first half where the tempo, pressing, and intent were exactly what we’ve been working towards. The lads showed real grit and determination throughout, competing for every ball and staying disciplined in shape.

Out wide, Harrison was a constant outlet and caused their left back all sorts of problems. Time and again he found space, drove at his man, and got into dangerous areas. On another day, with a bit more composure or luck in front of goal, he easily could’ve come away with a hat trick — his performance deserved that.

At the back, Queioni was outstanding. Calm under pressure, strong in the tackle, and organised those around him well. He dealt with everything that came his way and gave us a solid foundation to build from.

In midfield, Mo and Kai worked tirelessly. They covered huge ground, broke up play effectively, and helped us transition forward. Both had really good opportunities in the first half, strikes that on another day find the back of the net and their overall influence on the game was massive.

As the game wore on, you could see the effort start to take its toll. Tired legs crept in during the latter stages, which made it harder to maintain the same intensity and control we had earlier on. That’s something we’ll keep building on, but it never came from a lack of desire the work rate was there until the final whistle.

Plenty to be proud of today. The attitude, the togetherness, and the fight the boys showed is exactly what we want to see. If we keep performing like that and sharpen up in key moments.
