As another Saturday of cricket commenced,
Hesketh Bank CC 1st XI produced a strong all-round performance to defeat Grimsargh CC 2nd XI by five wickets in the Northern Pyramid PS Division Four fixture at Grimsargh Cricket Club.
Winning the toss and electing to bat, Grimsargh was eventually bowled out for 78 in 26.5 overs. Hesketh Bankβs bowling attack kept the pressure on throughout the innings, with Daniel Kirk the standout performer, claiming an impressive 6 wickets for 40 runs, including a wicket with the very first ball of the game. Chris Thomson provided sturdy support with 3 for 20, while Damodhar Reddi picked up the remaining wicket with 1 for 15.
Chasing 79 for victory, Hesketh Bank lost five wickets but remained in control of the chaos the pitch provided. Naveen Chandu Ganji top-scored with a composed 32 not out from 68 balls, while Daniel Kirk added an unbeaten 21 from 38 balls.
Hesketh Bank reached 80 for 5 in 25.1 overs, completing a well earned five wicket victory and 12 well deserved points.

More cricket action was taking place down at station road on Saturday as Hesketh Bank CC 2nd XI produced a disciplined all-round performance to secure a six-wicket victory over Walton-le-Dale CC 3rd XI.
Walton-le-Dale were dismissed for just 47 runs in 19.2 overs, with Hesketh Bankβs bowling attack keeping a firm grip on the innings and ensuring wickets fell regularly. G Southworth claiming 5 wickets for 10 runs, K Gowri taking 3 wickets for 9 runs and Z Banister cleaning up, 2 wickets for 27 runs.
Chasing a modest target of 48, Hesketh Bank made light work of the run chase, reaching 49 for 4 in just 12.3 overs to complete a comfortable victory, securing themselves 12 valuable points. Great stuff fellas ππ»π
