IMPORTANT UPDATE
Hi All,
This may (or may not) come as a surprise but I have decided to not continue with Powerhoop Classes in September. This is not to say that in the future they won't return, but right now they just aren't fitting in with my current work schedule/time and the amount of time and effort it take's to keep these classes running is not worth the little (or actually no) money I make.
This has been SUCH a hard decision. I absolutely love the Powerhoop workout and I think it has so many amazing benefits. However, since the COVID-19 pandemic I've never really been able to financially recover.
What some people may not realise is for an instructor it's not just 'turning up and teaching the class'. For me it's working my normal 9-5, getting the iPod charged and the playlist ready, getting the hoops and sound system in the car, driving 20 minutes to the venue, unloading the car, setting up, checking how many people are attending, paying the hall on time, seeing if I can cover my costs, loading the car back up driving home and unloading the car, licenses and insurances AND trying to continuously market to get people to come to classes as well as continually learning new routines to keep classes exciting and fresh. It's a lot and for one class a week as the saying goes 'the squeeze is not worth the juice'.
From classes this year I have basically made no money but I continued because I love the workout and I love the ladies that come every week. We've build such a wonderful community and I am so sad to see it go, but I have to put myself and my needs first.
Having these few months off has made me realise that something needed to give, and this was it. I've had a bit more time to myself and this has really benefitted my mental wellbeing and provided a better work life balance. In addition, with the cost of living crisis things are just getting harder and I can't afford to keep losing money.
I would like to thank everyone who has supported me throughout the past 3/4 years. Without you Powerhoop Classes Hertford wouldn't have gone on for as long as it did! You are the reason I've kept going and please believe me when I say this hasn't been an easy decision.
This perhaps isn't a 'bye forever' but just a 'bye for now'.
Please do keep in touch and please do keep hooping at home. There are instructors that do online workouts via zoom so if you'd still like to continue and have space at home you could join one of those (just check out the Powerhoop website).
That's all from me for now. I will try and get an e-mail out as soon as possible to you all.
Lots of hooping love,
Hannah
