Four weeks ago, this little old lady (Leona, not me) had a stroke.

And I’ll tell you right now that she’s all recovered and happy. Otherwise I know you’d scroll down to find out what happened. That’s what I would do.

It happened right when I was thinking of declutterring my life.

Work was busy and not everything I was doing had a return.

Home life was what can only be described as “the bare minimum for each of us”.

I was rushing most of the time and I was away from home a lot. Which I hated.

Of course, this didn’t happen overnight.

It was the result of adding commitment, after commitment, for a longer period of time.

But it was time to make changes.

I really wanted for all of us at home to have our needs met fully.

Proper, relaxing walks with the dogs.

Cooked food.

Getting places on time.

So I planned to make changes starting September.

And then Leona got sick.

And it felt like I waited too long.

We kept hoping she’ll get better and did what we could for that to happen.

And meanwhile, I cleared my scheduled.

To start fresh.

She got better.

So I got my chance to live and work differently.

I share the whole story and a lot more details in this week’s podcast episode which will be published tomorrow. If you don’t have it yet, you’ll find Coffee Chats with a Life Coach Podcast on all the main platforms.

I hope it will help you prioritize what matters and give you permission to change what doesn’t work anymore.

Can’t wait to hit publish!

Until then…

It’s Friday, let’s have a get-to-know-me post! And a better picture of my new hair, because apparently the one from yesterday didn’t clearly show I got highlights 😀.

1️⃣ I get super excited when someone wins money on the radio. If it’s a big competition, I get very invested even if I don’t take part.

2️⃣ I don’t have the travel bug. I do enjoy exploring new places, but I don’t live to go on holiday and don’t dream about new locations to travel to.

3️⃣ And speaking of travel, there are countries I wouldn’t visit even if you held a gun to my head. No matter how beautiful they are. I’d really rather keep my freedom and all my organs, thank you very much.

What’s your take on travelling? Where are you off to next?

“Patrick, what are you doing?!” 🫢🤯😯
“I’m playing.”
“Yeah… but why are you NAKED?!”
“Because I wanted to be.”
“OK... That makes sense.”

If you’re a parent, this conversation might not be unfamiliar. From what I heard, toddlers do this a lot.

But that’s not the point.

When I found my son without clothes in the middle of the living room, I thought that’s weird, unnecessary, and a little bit rude.

But when he offered me a perfectly reasonable explanation 🙈, “Because I wanted to”, I was totally on board.

I believe in doing things just because you want to.

You don’t always need a reason. A “why”. A big purpose. A world-saving mission.

Sometimes you achieve things just because you want to.

You have permission to WANT.
A career. Money. To publish a book. To lose weight. Whatever it is.
Your motivation can be “because I want to”.

Be more Patrick.
(But maybe keep your pants on.)

I’m a proud millennial and on time for everything.

But I noticed I’m more and more tolerant of people being 2-3 minutes late. Nowadays, especially if you need to get to a physical location, the chances of making it on time are slim. Unless you leave very early.

Online, however, no excuses. 🙈🙈

The same article that provided the statistics, also says:

👉 40% of millennials said they are forgiving of colleagues running 10 minutes behind schedule, but the number drops to 26% for Generation X and 20% for baby boomers.

What do you think? Is 10 minutes late still on time?!
