First game of the season and we got off to a winner! 4-1 versus EB Lions.
We played some great football, particularly our passing to build attacks.
Harriet on her debut scored two goals, with her second being a well taken first touch pass into the corner following a great through ball from Kat.
Connie and Sian got our other goals which is great to get our forwards on the scoresheet.
Sunshine, some great football and a win for our first division 1 match.

Match report: Harpenden Colts Rec vs Bury Rangers Rec

Yesterday saw our final rec league game against Harpenden Colts Rec. It was a fantastic team performance with a win confirming Bury as finishing first place in the rec league!🏆

A really solid team performance from start to finish, with every individual playing to their best. We were first to the ball, determined in every challenge, communicating brilliantly and working hard for each other.
The passing and pressing was excellent, and we created chance after chance. Harpenden played a high line which caught us offside on a few occasions, but we kept our composure and continued to play our football. A game full of goals and a fantastic final team performance.

Final score: 9-0 to Bury

Most importantly a huge thank you to this league for giving our players the opportunity to play regular competitive matches. For many of our players, getting consistent match experience was a rarity before this league, and it has made such a difference to their confidence, development and enjoyment of the game. Being able to test ourselves against other great teams, enjoy some friendly competition and experience the highs and challenges of match days has been invaluable. We’re so grateful to everyone involved in making that possible❤️

In tonight’s recreational session, we added some World Cup friendly competition.

With our sweepstake down to the final two, our remaining players took charge as captains for a friendly showdown: Alice’s Team Spain vs Jordan’s Team Argentina.

It was a match full of skill, great teamwork, and plenty of goals, with Team Argentina coming out on top 5–2!

Now the big question is... who will be taking home the sweepstake prize tonight?

🏆 Bury Rangers Women & Rec at Georgia’s Memorial Cup Tournament 🩷

What an incredible day for both our Women’s and Recreational players at Georgia’s Memorial Cup organised by one of our own, Jordan👏

With three Bury Rangers teams entered, we certainly turned up in numbers, and on the pitch too! All three teams progressed to the knockout stages after some fantastic football throughout the day.

⚽ Pitch Please finished runners-up in their group and reached the Cup Trophy semi-finals.

⚽ Mean Goals finished joint second, forcing an extra play-off match for a place in the Cup Trophy. After a hard-fought penalty shootout, they narrowly missed out and instead progressed to the Shield Trophy.

⚽ Alice’s Angels also made the Shield Trophy knockouts, setting up an all-Bury final against Mean Goals. In a closely contested match packed with chances and brilliant saves, Alice’s Angels won with a 1-0 victory to lift the Shield!🏆

While the football was competitive, today was about something much bigger. The tournament has already raised over £4,500 for an incredibly worthy cause, and we couldn’t be prouder of Jordan for all the hard work she’s put into organising such a fantastic event.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part, donated, supported and helped make the day so special🩷👏

Some of our players entered the Luke Fuller Memorial tournament in Letchworth yesterday and played brilliant - winning it on penalties.

We had 4 group games, won 3 and lost 1 (to biggleswade who we would eventually meet in the final).
The semi- final against letchworth was cagey, but we defended well and eventually Sian scored a header from a brilliant throw by Libby.

The final was as tough as we expected against a very good team who play in a higher league. Again our defending was solid and with some great saves from Alice we managed to keep it to 0-0 and take it to penalties.

Alice was the star of the shoot out, making 2 brilliant saves and scoring the winning penalty!
