Winning a league doesn’t happen often for any team if at all. So a little recognition of each player who contributed to that achievement for us!

Alice - Took a step up this season. No key mistakes and pulled off some brilliant quick reaction saves - most notably against Sherrardswood, Cranfield and EB Lions away. Close games that enabled us to take away points.

Connie - Moved into the central attacking role this season and bagged a variety of goals - from tap-ins to her brace at Bedwell scoring from the corner of the penalty area. Developed her hold up play as the season progressed to play in others. Great start to taking on this position.

Danni - Another player who developed as the season progressed and was crucial to the run in to winning the league. Built greater determination and desire to her game which saw her winning the ball more, enabling us and her to have more possession and instigate attacks. Box to box central midfielder.

Ellie - She has the two masks - gentle fun character off the pitch but once she crosses onto the pitch, she is
competitive, focussed, wants to win. She plays in the key central areas to win the ball and then looks to play on the floor - has some tricks in her bag. Have loved how you have come back after your injury to be a key player and person with us.

Emma C - Started playing the season in midfield areas, but then dropped into defence which made us harder to attack and score against. Her competitiveness and assertiveness suited her more defensive side of the game. One match that stood out was the Wormley away match and loosing 2-1 at half time. Changed formation and dropped Emma back into defence. They didn’t get another sniff of goal as we went onto win 4-2.

Em D - One of our leaders - communicates support and organisation to team mates and leads by example with her football. Loved Em and Nic discussing and practicing what a kick off can look like to shoot and put pressure on the opposition. The next game was against Hitchin (league decider match). Second half start, Em plays that long ball into the wide channel - Nic crossed for Sian to slide in for our winning goal that got us the league.

Emelia - probably the moment of the season was her scoring with a header following the training session on
heading that she smashed! Covered left back for most of the season and being right footed isn’t easy. Lots of bravery to play out from the back and combine with more forward players.

Emily - Unique set of skills and attitude to play. In the central forward areas, her desire to drive at defenders, play in tight areas to create chances for herself or others really added to our variety in attacks. And always with a smile.

Gabi - From a club coach / club perspective, there is joy seeing younger players transition into adult senior
football and that has been the case seeing Gabi develop this year. We knew her as a central defender in her youth team, but giving her the autonomy to enjoy playing has seen her evolve to build her attacking skills and play in midfield.

Jordan - Came into the squad late in the season but really helped get us over the line. Willingness to battle in midfield and run at defences, either to drive into spaces or to create space for others.

Kiri - ended the season really strong when we needed it. The match away against EB set her play at a new higher standard - thou shall not pass. Read play well of when to cover and her pace often got us out of trouble as she dealt with balls over the top.

Kirsty - integral to us playing out from the back which more often than not goes down the right - being calm in possession. Then may have pinched the longest strike goal of the season (normally gets this each season to be fair).

Laura A - Another player who came late into our squad and was essential in getting us over the line. In a short space of time her fitness and confidence grew where she had spells in matches dominating central spaces in midfield. This was important in those last matches, particularly against EB & Hitchin. She brings some physicality and ability on the ball - as well as a couple of key goals!

Laura E - Calmness on the ball - definitely Laura’s main trait. Always trying to find that pass to keep possession or open up the opposition defence. Then has the ability to keep running and running - great
endurance in midfield.

Libby - Our voice in our team! Lots of encouragement and positive / fun vibes. One of a number of players who improved as the season developed. Pushed higher up the pitch on the right side as she became more effective - winning possession, getting crosses in, long throws and being a handful.

Nicola - Rescued us with her timing of moving to our team. We were stuck for scoring goals and then you came and started banging them in. Love the playing on the right, cutting in and unleashing from outside the area. And all with lots of fun and smiles.

Nicole - You added some skills to our team down the left - great first touch, skills to beat an opponent and scored some bangers. Best goal or most memorable was following some corner routine practice at training, scoring with a bullet header you ran onto.

Rachel - Doesn’t give the ball away and more often than not, plays simple passes to keep possession. She checks her positioning and always looks to provide cover. Unglamorous work that can be missed - but we see you Rach! and then scored the winner versus Sherrardswood. Grabbed the corner routine we’d been working on and smashed it into top corner.

Sammy - only played a few games, but got 3 key goals for us. Very similar goals and for a striker, probably the most important of being in the right place at the right time in and around the 6 yard area. Meeting crosses, timing runs to get in front of defenders.

Sian - Top scorer and missing a third of the season due to injury. I think this season the brilliant thing she increased was her scoring from winning the ball from defenders - creating her own chances. Coming back from injury for the last few games felt like a boost for us all and you got the key goals in that time against
Hitchin and EB.

Cameo appearances - Amy, Carys, & Erin I think each played two games and helped us at times when we were short of players - and we won the fixtures they played in!

🔥 MATCH DAY ONE – GREAT START TO THE VETS LEAGUE SEASON! 🔥
Bury Red & White Vets kicked off their league campaign in hot conditions, with both teams showing determination, teamwork, and some excellent football throughout the day 💪

🔴 Bury RedsWith just one sub in the heat, the Reds showed real resilience. The team battled well and played good football from the back lead by Nina.
With the midfield working tirelessly throughout, this enabled the girls up front to get plenty of shots on goal with Kat, Emma C and Sammy all getting on the scoresheet ⚽
Final Results:✅ 3 Wins | 🤝 1 Draw | ❌ 1 Loss
🏆 Player of the Day – Emma C for her work rate, leading by example and getting on the score sheet.

⚪ Bury WhitesWith a clear game plan, the Whites delivered a solid team performance, ensuring everyone got game time and even rotating in goal, with all players stepping up brilliantly 👏The standout moment was Mireia’s stunning halfway line goal 🚀. We also saw 2 great goals one from Laura & one from Lica. A brilliant day all round.
Final results:✅ 1 Win | 🤝 3 Draws | ❌ 1 Loss
🏆 Player of the Day – Mireia for her energy, key blocks, and fantastic goal!

💥 A brilliant all-round start with plenty to build on!

Thank you to Hertfordshire Womens Veterans League for organising a great day full of fantastic football.

We are Div 2 league winners!! We beat Hitchin 2-1 in our final game and had a wait for other teams' matches to go our way. Winning the league on goal difference.
A lot of us play and coach football for the enjoyment of the game, to build community and do some exercise. So to find ourselves as league winners is a big bonus. One we will celebrate a few times across the summer.
Lots of great stories within the Bury squad. Players who returned to football and have developed and shone. Half the squad are players who came through the club's youth section. Cameo appearances that kept us going when we lost players. New players half way through the season that picked us up and Sian returning at the end to score more goals!
We collect our trophy at cup final day on 3/5/26.
The 2 images are from our last game and I think capture the great camaraderie within the squad

Bury Rangers 8 - 2 Wormley Rovers
Our penultimate match saw Bury get some much needed goals. As we head into the final fixture, we are still in with a chance to win the league which may go down to goal difference. So the goals were needed!
The first couple came in the first 20 minutes which helped settle nerves and got us playing. Sian scoring her first of 2 and Laura A getting a goal her first half performance deserved.
We were up 4-0 at half time with Nic getting her first of a hatrick and Jordan getting her first goal for us with a well struck shot low into the corner.
Wormley retained a threat in the second half with their younger players speed being a problem on the counter attack. Their second being a good shot from outside the penalty area.
This saw a period of end to end play where Bury replied with some quality goals. Nic and Sian getting their additional goals and Dani finally scoring getting her first goal of the season. She had tried from distance a few minutes before that went just over. Her goal was hit from outside the penalty area and flew into the top corner - followed by some celebration!
So we go into our final match this Wednesday against Hitchin having to win and probably still get some goals.
Player of the match was Nic

EB Lions 0 - 2 Bury Rangers
Top two teams played off against each other with Bury coming out on top.
From a defensive perspective, Bury played their best match for a while. Players stepping up and being first to the ball and limiting EB to a few chances. Kiri & Amelia in particular.
Sian played her first game back following injury which gave us better balance and she lasted 90 mins which was great.
Alice made a brilliant reactive save with 10 mins to go to keep an important clean sheet.
At the other end Connie got our first goal. Nic shot from distance which their keeper parried and she was first to react, placing her shot well into the corner.
Sian got our second in the second half which awarded our play. Similarly a shot from Nic was fumbled by the keeper and Sian was first to it, poking home.
Our midfield consistently were first to the ball, frustrating EB and forcing mistakes.
Great seeing Laura build back her game following her return to football. Dani played one of her best games, using her body brilliantly to be first to the ball, putting herself in between the ball and an opponent. Enabling her to control the central spaces.
Well done to the whole team and onto the remaining couple of fixtures to see what we can achieve.

Wormley 2-4 Bury Rangers
Took us awhile to get going and a change of formation to address going 2-0 down in the first 25 mins.
Nic got our first, cutting in from the right onto her left foot to shoot low into the goal. Laura A got our second, following in well on a great cross from Kirsty and tapping home.
The video is of our 3rd goal which captured a great moment. Recently we had discussed players hesitance to head the ball so we did some training to help build confidence. Emelia grabbed this at training and then scored with her head today. The players celebration is part taking the lead and part respect/joy for Emelia.
The fourth was a well taken goal by Connie. As the ball was crossed in, at an angle she lifted the ball over the keeper with a calm touch.
We had 16 players today - first time for a long time having so many subs! But was helpful to keep the energy going on a sticky pitch. Got a squad photo to capture the moment.

Cranfield 1 - 1 Bury Rangers
Another close game which a draw was a fair result. Both teams creating chances and both teams could have added a winner as the game neared the end. Nic hitting the crossbar again and a Cranfield 6 yard box pinball scramble in the last couple of mins didn’t fall our way.
Nic did score our goal, cutting in from the right onto her left foot to unleash from the edge of the penalty area.
Connie adjusted her game in the second half to recieve deeper which posed Cranfield problems.
Alice earned player of the match for a number of good saves. One reacting to a shot that took a deflection and Alice adjusting to get her finger tips to it and guiding it onto the crossbar.
Team did well to develop into the match and were the stronger team in the second half. A point well earned!

Bury Rangers Rec vs MK United

A strong and solid team performance this Sunday against a well organised MK United. Nina was fantastic in communicating with all players and was solid in central defence. Elia, Kiri and Amy made sure they were first to the ball and made constant runs up and down the pitch, showing brilliant attacking and defensive work. Alice made some brilliant long balls with one assisting a goal and maintained a clean sheet.🧤
Sav and Abby controlled the central midfield with great pressure and tackling. They distributed many passes and some good headers to maintain possession. Sav’s constant pressure and running through the defence led to a well deserved goal. Gabs, Elisa and Ellie fought hard down the wings, making runs and getting round the players. Elisa and Ellie’s composure on the ball led to some calmly finished goals.
Laura made her debut as our attacker and showed brilliant hold up play and a fantastically placed goal from a beautifully delivered corner by Kiri🎯

A fantastic team effort from all with calm composure throughout. Good pressure by all and the momentum seemed to build every quarter👏

Final score: Bury Rangers Rec 5-0 MK United
