🏏 2026 SEASON COMPLETE | A SEASON TO BE PROUD OF 💙

Our first season in Kent Cricket League Division 8 Shepherd comes to an end with the Bay finishing 4th on 205 points.

After back-to-back promotions, we knew this season would bring another step up in quality. It proved to be a mixed campaign with some excellent victories, some frustrating afternoons and plenty of lessons along the way. But to finish 4th in our first year at this level with seven league wins recorded, is something we can be proud of.

There were plenty of individual highlights too. Jeremy Taylor led our run scoring with 301 runs, followed by Sauhard Patel with 240 and Bilal Habibi with 193. With the ball, Mitkumar Tank finished with 25 wickets, making him the joint leading wicket taker across the entire division. He finished eight wickets clear as our club’s leading bowler, with Jujhar Singh taking 17.

We’ve continued to develop as a club, competed at a higher level and shown that we belong in this division.

After the progress and promotions of the previous two seasons, 2026 might not have brought another promotion, but it has given us another strong platform to build from.

A huge thank you to everyone who has played, supported, volunteered, sponsored us or helped behind the scenes throughout the season.

4th place. 205 points. Another season of progress.

Proud of how far we’ve come and already looking forward to what comes next.

🎯 JOINT TOP WICKET TAKER | MITKUMAR TANK

What a season with the ball from Mitkumar Tank, finishing as the joint leading wicket taker across Kent Cricket League Division 8 Shepherd with 25 wickets! 👏

Mit bowled 111 overs across the season, conceding 427 runs at an average of just 17.08, including 15 maidens and a best performance of 5-38.

A brilliant achievement after the club’s promotion last season and a huge contribution to our first campaign in Division 8.

Congratulations Mit, thoroughly deserved! 💙🏏

🏆 Convert Energy Man of the Match | The Last Two Games 🏆

A couple of standout individual performances over the last two weekends.

Despite a difficult afternoon at Deal Victoria & Barns Close, Maulikkumar Makwana was named Convert Energy Man of the Match after another impressive all-round display. Maulik claimed 2 wickets with the ball before contributing valuable runs in challenging batting conditions.

Back at the Sports Hub against Willesborough, the award went to Oliver Bratley, who reached a special milestone by scoring his first half-century for Herne Bay CC. Ollie’s superb 56 laid the platform for the Bay’s match-winning total of 280 and was a deserved reward for all the hard work he’s put in this season.

Congratulations to both players on their well-earned awards. 💙👏

📋 The last two weekends in one post…

It was a tale of two very different Saturdays for Herne Bay.

Unfortunately, the trip to Deal Victoria & Barns Close ended in defeat. After restricting the hosts to 193-7, thanks to two wickets apiece from Maulikkumar Makwana and Sauhard Patel, the Bay struggled to build partnerships in reply and were bowled out for 88.

The response couldn’t have been much better seven days later.

Back at the Sports Hub, Herne Bay produced one of their best performances of the season to defeat Willesborough by 66 runs.

Batting first, the Bay piled on 280-9, led by an outstanding 86 from Maulikkumar Makwana, a classy 56 from Oliver Bratley and 34 from Suryaveer Nayyar. Danny Beeson also played an important unbeaten innings to help push the total beyond 280.

With the ball, Herne Bay backed it up with another disciplined display. Jujhar Singh and Raghavan Ramesh Babu both claimed two wickets, while Mitkumar Tank, Jack Stephens and Sauhard Patel all chipped in as Willesborough were restricted to 214-7, sealing a deserved victory and maximum points.

A disappointing afternoon followed by a fantastic team response. That’s exactly the character this group has shown all season. 💙

🏏 JUNIOR CRICKET IS ON THIS WEDNESDAY! 🏏

Looking for something fun for the children to do this summer? Come along to our Junior Cricket session at Herne Bay Sports Hub!

Whether your child is picking up a bat for the very first time or already loves cricket, everyone is welcome. Our sessions focus on fun games, learning new skills and making new friends in a relaxed and friendly environment.

After a spirited performance last weekend, the lads will be looking to put in another strong display and come away with the points.

🏆 Convert Energy Man of the Match 🏆

A well deserved Convert Energy Man of the Match award goes to Abdul Achikzai after an impressive all-round performance against Worth CC.

Abdul top scored for the Bay with 23 runs in extremely difficult batting conditions before backing it up with a disciplined spell of 9 overs for just 23 runs, helping to keep Worth’s scoring under control throughout the innings.

A superb effort with both bat and ball. Congratulations, Abdul! 💙👏

Herne Bay CC were beaten by Worth CC at the Sports Hub after difficult batting conditions made chasing a competitive total a real challenge.

Worth posted 154-8 from their 40 overs, with Herne Bay sticking at the task throughout the innings. Jack Stephens was the pick of the bowlers with an excellent 3 wickets, while Jujhar Singh, Sauhard Patel, Maulikkumar Makwana and Suryaveer Nayyar all chipped in with important breakthroughs.

One of the moments of the day came in the field when Jake Ross produced an incredible catch, sprinting backwards before holding on to a swirling ball over his shoulder. A catch that would look at home on any cricket highlights reel.

With dark skies, difficult batting conditions and a pitch offering plenty for the bowlers, Herne Bay never managed to build the partnerships needed in reply. Abdul Achikzai top scored with 23, while Ronak Patel added 14, but regular wickets meant the Bay were eventually bowled out for 105.

A disappointing result, but there were still plenty of positives in the field, with a committed bowling display and some outstanding catching keeping the side in the contest for much of the afternoon.

The Bay will look to respond next weekend.
