Hasland Dance Studios A very warm welcome to the Hasland Dance Studios page! We are an award winning Dance School We believe that every child deserves the chance to dance!

Founded in 1942 by Muriel Hasland, the Hasland Dance Studios is one of Kent's longest running and best known dance schools. Seventy-three years after the school was founded, we have just been named Dance School of the Year 2015 out of the whole of the UK, have expanded into a teacher training college offering dance teaching qualifications up to Foundation degree level, and are currently one of just a very small number of schools in Kent to hold 'Recognised School Status' with the Council of Dance Education and Training, reflecting our high standards of dance education as well as our commitment to the safety of our students. With classes from age 2½ to adults, in Ballet, Modern, Tap, Street and Musical Theatre, we have something to suit everybody. We offer free taster classes in all our dance styles, so whether you would like to book your child in to try a class, or just come in to meet our friendly team and have a look around our studios, we would love to hear from you! ✨There’s someone new coming to a reception desk near you ✨

From next week, you’ll find Millie at the HDS reception desk on Tuesdays and for the first half of Friday evenings. She’ll also be helping out with some of our lessons when needed. 💕

For those who don’t already know her, Millie is actually Miss Ali’s middle daughter! ❤️ She trained here at HDS from the age of 2 all the way through to 17, so it’s extra special to now welcome her back as part of the HDS team. 🥰

Millie has recently graduated from Laine Theatre Arts and loves all things Musical Theatre, Tap & Commercial. 🎭👯‍♀️✨

She has also completed her practical unit towards her ISTD Diploma in Dance Education in Tap, working towards her full teaching qualification. 🩰📚

We’re so excited to have Millie join the HDS team and we’re sure you’ll all give her the warmest welcome! 🥰

The show may be over, but there was no rest for some of our competition team, who headed straight to Canterbury Festival this past week!

With only a small team competing, they achieved some incredible results:

Wow… what a week! ✨

From our tiniest nursery dancers taking their very first steps on stage to our incredible advanced seniors, every single one of you danced your socks off. We couldn’t be prouder.

This was our biggest show to date:
💚Nearly 200 students
💚35 incredible routines
💚Many dancers performing in 5 or 6 numbers
💚Over 600 costumes
💚An audience of over 900 across the weekend

The commitment, hard work and dedication from our students has been nothing short of amazing, and watching every one of you shine on that stage made all the months of preparation worthwhile.

A huge thank you also goes to my incredible HDS team. As I said in my speech, you’re not just my colleagues, you’re my friends. Your passion, support and endless hard work make HDS what it is, and I simply couldn’t do it without you.

Thank you to everyone who came to support us and for all the lovely messages, kind words, cards and gifts we’ve received. They mean more than you know.

HDS has always been about so much more than dance. It’s a place where children can grow in confidence, build lifelong friendships, discover who they are, and always feel safe, supported and seen.

To every student, teacher, helper, backstage volunteer, costume maker, chaperone and every family who trusts us with their children… thank you. You are what makes HDS so incredibly special. 💚

It’s that time of year again 😢

Today we say goodbye to 11 of our Advanced Senior students.

We’ve known most of them since they were just 2 years old, walking through the studio doors and performing in their first show as tiny Robins with the best bum wiggles and huge smiles Watching them grow from little children into incredible young adults has been a great privilege.

We are so incredibly proud of every single one of you—not just for the dancers you’ve become, but for the kind, funny, resilient and caring people you are. You’ve worked hard, supported one another, laughed together, cried together and created memories that will stay with you forever.

This really does feel like the end of an era but you’re all ready to spread your wings and begin your next chapter and we are so proud of you.

Enjoy every minute today, you deserve it 💚
