St.Martins short mat bowlers group headed to Langstone Cliff hotel Dawlish Warren for a 5 days short mat bowls competition.
Comprised of Pairs and triples main compation with optional singles.
Group of 10 players
Jim Knowles, Joanne Millington, Kim wooden, Keith Jones, Peter Goulding, Barry Steele, Sue foden, Hazel Vaughan, Irene Healey, Glyn Perry.
A good week had by all.
The Monday night drawn social triples saw Glyn Perry,s triple come out on top.
The 5 pairs were
Irene/Barry. Kim /Glyn. Pete/Keith, Sue/Hazel, Jim/Jo. All ended up in different groups playing Monday through to Wednesday.
The triples were
Hazel, Sue, Barry
Keith,Kim, Pete
Irene, Joanne, Jim
Glyn with Ano's. All in separate groups playing all day Thursday.
Hazel, Sue and Barry made it to the 1/4 final.
Pete's Triple going out in the 1/4 final preliminary round.

The pairs had mixed fortunes in the group stages for our teams. Keith/pete getting out of their group on a best of the rest card before going out in the first knockout round.
Jo/Jim lost 1 won 4 to top the group on shots difference. Before going on to win some tight games and get through to the final on played on Friday morning .
A very close final went to the final 10th end level at 6all. In a tense last end with Jo/Jim holding 3 and the opposition skip with the last wood to play, wasn't able to change the outcome. Success for Joanne and Jim.

Today 5 members have attended and passed their adult first aid course. Giving up their time for free in order to help and be of service if required!

It’s so important for clubs to have volunteers and to volunteer to have such an important role within the club is great!

Well done to Lucy, Ann, Keri, Sue Webb and John. Thanku for giving up your day and for volunteering to fulfil this important position within the club!

Thanks goes to Hereford First Aid Training who provided us with the training. A great informative day!

On Wednesday evening at our committee meeting. Laura from George’s fund (George’s mum) came to collect the cheaque from the money raised by St Martins during the summer last season. She also gave us a little talk about what George’s fund is and how our money will get used.

As a club lead by Keri we raised £1026 for George’s fund which is a great achievement.

One of our own. Sandra is today competing in the ladies champion of champions national finals at dolphin in Dorset.

She had a great win this morning winning 21-19 after a close back and forth game. Making it to the last 8.

She is now currently playing Nicole Rogers. Although playing for Malvern indoor club We wish her all the best!

Many congratulations to Sandra Jones who has now qualified for the finals of the women's champion of Champions competition after winning against Amy Walters in the area final today.
The finals are due to be played at Dolphin IBC Friday 30th to Saturday 31st January 2026. Great achievement Sandra and all good wishes for the final stages

Tonight was a social outing for the ladies of St Martins.

A meal at zizzis followed by the over 18s only version of the panto! Lots of laughs and a great evening had by all! Looking forward to the next one!

St martins have been playing in an indoor/ outdoor league at Malvern indoor club. It has been hard going but the team haven’t given in. Yesterday they came up against Malvern Victoria. The league consists of 3 rinks. Yesterday St martins got 8 points. Winning 2 rinks out of 3 getting the overall score.

Unfortunately early exit from the LEH competition at Defford.
Dispite a good start to the second leg with a 6-6 draw in a tight singles game and a hard fought pairs coming from 3-7 down to win last 4 ends and a 11-7 win.
Another tight game in the fours eventually going down by 7 shots.
Unfortunately the triples were out done by the home side dispte trying their best.
Finished up overall 60-69.

Time to concentrate on the league now.
The Eagles have won 1, Lost 1 sitting on top of div 3 at present.
The Hawks have their first fixture home to Aston Ingham this coming Thursday. Good luck all in your upcoming competitions!

Woman’s Amy rose regional winners - Herefordshire ( Keri palmer and Jasmine Corrick) joined Warwickshire 🥇 and got the semi finals at nationals!

Overall a great season for St Martins players. Well done all! Looking forward to next season with hopefully more trophies coming home!

Lovely club presentation dinner last Friday evening. Lovely evening had by all with awards being presented to club champions during the outdoor 2025 season!

A big Thanku to Neil and Sandra for organising the evening and their work over the season. Well done to all the winners and we wish everyone to winter well and will see you all back out on the green in the spring.
