Friday 5th June saw the most recent Royal College of Podiatry, Faculty of Surgery National Deanery Day, chaired by the Central, Wales and Overseas Deanery at the University of Northampton.

This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of Industry, as the day’s supporters enabled a free-to-access day of CPD learning for all clinical grades from undergrads interested in surgical training to staff pod to trainee to SpR to Consultant.

NHS Long Service Awards this last week. Celebrating 25 (actually 31) years for this National Treasure. 22 years at WVT. There’s been mainly ups (and a couple of little downs) but I’m not sure that I’d have changed the trajectory much. I feel very humbled and fortunate to say that my love and drive for the privileged job that I do hasn’t changed. Every day is an adventure. Here’s to whatever I have left in the tank!

A lovely surprise in clinic today when two of my previous secretaries dropped in to say hi! They’re both loving early retirement and I have to say, it suits them…they’re looking as young as ever and full of the joys of spring!

The changing of the guard. Last day for with the boys before he starts proper learning with the laydeez and Nat. He’s cutting his apron strings and spreading his wings!

Well done on all of your achievements and progress DP. Lots and lots and lots more to come no doubt. You survived Wadders for 2 years! 😂😂

There really isn’t anything better than getting a message out-of-the-blue from a patient, to say that they were thinking of you because they can now do what they couldn’t.

This patient had had an Achilles decompression at another centre but had struggled post-op for a couple of years. He was limping and his recruitment was poor. It ached.

We had a look & a chat, worked out what we needed to do to be able to achieve his goals and set to it. Over the past 18/12 he has worked fastidiously to get back to running and hill walking with his family. Chapeau.

(….my input?…depends how you frame it…minimal or critical…I’d probably say the former as I didn’t do the hard yards)
