HEREFORDSHIRE will include three brothers in their line-up for the first time since their formation in 1992 when they take on Cornwall in their latest NCCA T20 group matches at Eastnor on Sunday.
The three Cox brothers – Joel, Ollie and Toby – play their club cricket at Ombersley with Toby also a member of the Worcestershire Academy.
All three have played for Herefordshire before but only two of them have previously played in the same side together.
With three players ruled out due to commitments in the National Club knock-out, Herefordshire are again forced into wholesale changes with five players dropping out after the double defeat by Devon last week.
This means a first appearance of the season for Dorridge off-spinning all-rounder Imaad Mahmood and a recall for another Worcestershire Academy youngster Seth Essenhigh.
Also returning is Brockhampton paceman Theo Barker who played throughout the 50-over group matches and acted as 12th man last week at Blundell’s School.
Cornwall have won two of their four games, losing one and tieing the other.
Last weekend, they beat Dorset twice with conclusive wins by 56 runs and seven wickets.
John Moon was in spectacular form in the first of those victories, lashing an unbeaten 103 from 39 balls with 10 sixes and six fours.
Dorset previously beat Herefordshire twice at Eastnor on May 24.
Herefordshire’s final group games will be against Wiltshire, who beat and tied with Cornwall, at Westbury on July 5.
On Sunday, play will get under way in the first match at 11am.
Herefordshire squad: Luke Tulacz (capt), Ollie Cox, Joel Cox, Toby Cox, Hasan Mahmood, Imaad Mahmood, James Rudge, Luke Powell, Seth Essenhigh, Theo Barker, George Rhodes, Ollie Langford.

CAPTION: Ollie Cox is one of three brothers in the Herefordshire side.

I started my journey at Ross-on-Wye cricket club and worked my way through the junior ranks there before playing men’s senior cricket from the age of 14 as well as women’s cricket at local sides. Cricket has given me confidence, friendships and opportunities I never imagined, including becoming captain of the first Herefordshire Women’s team as well as recently given me the opportunity to net bowl against international teams including India, West Indies, Australia and England to help them prepare for the Cricket World Cup.
My favourite cricket moment was leading the first Herefordshire women’s county team out and helping grow the women’s game int the county. I’d encourage every girl to give dynamos a go - you never know where cricket might take you!

Mixed fortunes for Herefordshire on Sunday.

🏏 The men suffered two defeats to Devon at Blundell’s School, leaving their hopes of a third successive NCCA T20 Super12s qualification hanging in the balance. Luke Powell top-scored with 21 in game one, while George Rhodes and Callum Bennett both made 46 in the second.

🏏 The women split their double-header with Shropshire at Colwall. A superb all-round display, including 4-17 from captain Georgie Williams, secured victory in the opener before Shropshire hit back to win the second match.

HEREFORDSHIRE welcome back key all-rounder George Rhodes for their NCCA T20 trip to table-topping Devon on Sunday.
The former Worcestershire and Leicestershire man returns after missing the double defeat by Dorset at Eastnor in Herefordshire first group matches.
Herefordshire skipper Luke Tulacz will also welcome back Luke Powell who will resume wicket-keeping duties after missing the Dorset encounters due to a knee ligament injury.
There’s a first Herefordshire call-up for Bartestree & Lugwardine skipper Ryan Trattell who will bat in the middle-order and add to a strong spin-bowling section which will also include Ben Clements and Ciaran Baker-Smith.
Also returning is all-rounder Callum Bennett who impressed with a half-century and useful seam-bowling in the recent match against the MCC at Brockhampton.
Leading the seam attack will be James Rudge and Roshan Venkataraman who will be supported by Joel Cox as well as Bennett.
Overall there will be plenty of bowling options for Tulacz who could also add his own seam bowling into the mix.
Herefordshire will look for an improvement after defeat in both of their previous matches against Dorset.
A weak batting display in the first of those matches, which brought a crushing nine-wicket defeat, was followed by a much better display in the second match when Herefordshire scored their highest ever T20 score.
This, however, was still not enough to bring victory as Dorset chased down their target with a couple of balls to spare.
The scale of Herefordshire’s task on Sunday at Blundells School can be measured in the fact that Dorset, fresh from their two victories against Herefordshire, then went down twice to Devon in their following week’s double-header.
Herefordshire’s women are also in action on Sunday when they will look to build on their double success against Norfolk last time out when they take on Shropshire in a T20 double-header at Colwall.
Herefordshire: Luke Tulacz (capt), Ollie Cox, Joel Cox, Luke Powell, George Rhodes, Ryan Trattell, James Rudge, Roshan Venkataraman, Ciaran Baker-Smith, Ben Clarke, Callum Bennett. Twelfth man: Flynn Gunston.

The women T20 World Cup starts today, and will inspire soo many girls to pick up a cricket bat just like Liv did and look at her now!

I have played cricket since I was 11 and have learnt a lot on my journey and continue to do so. I now play cricket for brockhampton men’s team and various woman’s teams and enjoy playing with different people. This improves my confidence, teamwork skills and abilities. My favourite cricketing moment is finding out that I have been selected into the MCC where I will represent them in many matches.
