Cupids Hill Tug of War Club Cupids Hill is a Tug of War Club with Mens, Ladies and Junior sports teams that compete both at hom Anyone wishing to join us is most welcome.

Cupids Hill was founded in 1979 by a group of young farmers, mostly brothers from two neighbouring farms. In 1982 they started going to more 3As competitions and won the Welsh second division and in 1983 won silver in the 560kg competition at the Welsh Championships, followed by the gold in 1984 and began their international career with a trip to the United States of America at the World Champions

hips. Nowadays Cupids Hill welcome all ages and abilities and run Youth& Ladies teams as well as a Mens team. We have greatly improved the training ground over recent years and can now train in all weathers. Last year our Youth team won the Welsh Championship and represented Wales in the UK Championships where they clinched the Gold medal they then went on to compete at the World Championships in Belfast where they finished 6th. Our Mens and Ladies teams also had a successful season and competed internationally. Tug Of War is a great sport so come and try it, over the years this club has competed in many countries including U.S.A , Spain, Switzerland, Holland, Ireland,Sweden, Scotland England and Wales and competed against these Countries as well as competeing against Australia, Belgium, South Africa, Italy, China, Germany, Canada etc, etc. You only get out of sport what you put in so come and give it a go! As we studied the proposals for this year's TWIF Congress in South Africa we were filled with dismay. Democracy has always been about 1 man 1 vote or in the case of TWIF 1 country 1 vote. As long as a country is in good standing and had paid the annual fee of £350 it had a vote.
If all the proposals this year go through, some countries would get 3 votes and others no votes.
The biggest disappointment is that these proposals are being made by TWIF's own executive committee, who work hard for tug of war but already have great influence on the direction of the sport and plenty of opportunity to get their opinions across.
Perhaps frustrated that certain proposals in the past have not always gone their way they are seeking to give some countries that they hope are more likely to vote with them more votes to the detriment of other countries.
Cost is a huge issue in attending Congress and World Championships and many countries would like to get the cost down.
Surely if you take away the fairness of 1 country 1 vote you are undermining the integrity of our governing body.

This season marks 40 years since our first Welsh Championship gold medal and 40 years since our first appearance at the World Championships in Oshkosh Wisconsin USA.
