1972 RAC DAILY MIRROR RALLY. BLENHEIM PARK SS27. CAR NO 126. PETER THOMPSON AND KEN FORSTER IN VAUXHALL FIRENZA.
Alan S Parkinson added, "This was after they had to fit a new engine the night before the start! We had to take one out of a new car in the Showroom - and get it down to them in York. Peter and Ken eventually finished 49th o/a."

Keith Lay gave some additional info.
"Someone was asking about this car recently. He owned it at one time. It is said to be an ex-Alan Mann car. It was driven by Mann chief mechanic Jim Rose on an event in Kent, then bought by Alan Hemmings and used for LCAMC and at least one MN event. I believe it was a practice car for the drivers of the 2 Mann entries on the 66 Monte (hence not in the red/gold Mann colours). I assume the 66 Tour of Eppynt was in December? Anyone know who this is? It's presumably someone well known, given the seeding?"

A while ago Keith Baldwin sent some photos. First one is Keith Baldwin and Malcolm Limrick in the mini cooper s , no. 196 on the 1971 Fram Castrol International Welsh Rally. Then a collection of stickers from rallies Keith entered.
Their great mini inspirations were Will Sparrow and Nigel Raeburn.
Last photo is Keith Baldwin and Roger Eaton 1971 Gremlin with Brecon Motor Club.

Who remembers Bill Child and his orange mini.
Bill was Welsh Autocross Champion in either 1970 or 71.
His mini had a Richard Longman engine and the car was prepped and looked after at Everstones garage on the A49 on the way to Ross.
He also drove with Edward Pritchard.
