I’am delighted and honoured to announce that Sensei Gemma Atkin and Samurai Central Dojo have been selected as finalists for the Hereford Times community awards 2026 👏

We were recently nominated by some of our loyal families in the category- Sports team, club or personality of the year and have just been notified that we have been selected along with 2 other deserving recipients to make it into the final.

Gemma will attend the awards ceremony on October 7th which will be held at the Hereford Cathedral.

A huge thank you to those who nominated us for the award ♥️ your continued support and trust in me and us is never taken for granted. A massive thank you to the Hereford Times for choosing us as your finalists 🙏 whatever the outcome we are delighted to be recognised 👊

🥋🥋 Yesterday was our second and final competition summer camp and we had a fantastic day with you all 🥋🥋

💪 The morning was led mainly by Sensei Gemma who kicked the day off with some drills to help develop core strength, balance and explosive training to develop kata. Before lunch students worked on their chosen kata and discussed about the importance of the whole presentation process for competition.

The afternoon was high energy as coach Leo stepped up to run through some kumite drills and off the line sparring sessions. The session was well delivered and well received by all. Congratulations to everyone involved.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported our 2 camps this summer. We hope you gained lots from them and we look forward to welcoming you again in the future ♥️

🎉 Congratulations to everyone who participated in Saturday’s grading. A much smaller turnout due to the summer holiday’s but do not worry as you can grade in September’s grading instead.

🥋 All students who are due to grade on Saturday 22nd August will now test at the earlier time of 12:30. There will be no later grading.

All grades at 12:30 regardless of belt colour attempting.

🥋🥋 A huge thank you to everyone who joined us on our first competition training camp of summer 2026! We had a fantastic day working on kata drills, kumite drills, reaction training and off the line practice 🥋🥋

It was a pleasure to welcome students from Northampton and Spilsby, Lincolnshire to train with us for the day. We always love welcoming students from other clubs to train and learn together 💪

🥋 Our next session is on Tuesday 25th August. We have a few spaces left so book now to avoid disappointment 🥋

⚽️⚽️ Congratulations to Isaac who was the winner of our 2026 football World Cup sweepstake ⚽️⚽️

Isaac was successful in getting Spain as the winning team for our sweepstake which earned him a cool £50.00 🥳🎉 nicely done!!

🇯🇵 Thank you to everyone who took part in the sweepstake. It earned £190.00 which will be put in the Rising Sun funds. Helping our students reach Japan in 2027 for an amazing training opportunity 🇯🇵
