MATCH REPORT- Cheltenham Town U18s 1-3 Hereford FC U18s

A fantastic second half display ensured the young Bulls took all 3 points at Broomy Hill.
It was a cagey start with both teams trying to get used to the pitch with Cheltenham’s 7 coming closest, forcing a good save out of Utley at his near post.
Cheltenham looked most threatening with a number of attempted balls in behind, but the Hereford defence were alert, most notably Mills.
Another chance went begging for the Robins with an effort from the edge of the area travelling narrowly wide of Utley’s left post.
Hereford’s first real chance came 15 minutes in as a well worked attack found Corbett just outside the area, however he dragged his effort wide.
Cheltenham looked to have taken the lead with a bursting run into the box, however the effort was denied fantastically by Utley whose fingertip save sent the ball just over the bar.
Shortly after the Cheltenham striker found himself through on goal, however Sahabi’s pressure forced the attempt wide.
Radford came close to the breakthrough for the Bulls, exchanging passes with Howe, but the effort was routine for the opposing keeper.
The opposition responded with a number of moves and set pieces causing the Bulls problems, however they were unable to capitalise.

The Robins almost found the breakthrough 3 minutes into the second half as a free kick caused chaos in the box eventually finding a Cheltenham player, but his effort was cleared off the line by Mills.
Hereford took the lead when Bevan’s run in behind was challenged by a recovering defender. The ball fell to Radford who finished with composure into the bottom corner.
Cheltenham thought they equalised from kick off with a half way line effort being tipped wide by Utley.
The opposition equalised from the resulting corner with a header inside the area, looping over the Bulls keeper.
Hereford responded well with intent, Preece coming closest with a bullet from 18 yards out, however the effort kept rising.
Purvin restored the Bulls’ lead just after the hour mark. The number 10 finished with a thunderous strike into the top right corner leaving the keeper no chance.
Hereford extended their lead to two when substitutes McGowan and Gaudin linked up, with Gaudin dinking his finish over the Robins’ keeper into the far corner.
Cheltenham responded well with a few half chances, however the Bulls’ stood firm and alert to prevent a way back into the game.
The Bulls eventually held on at Broomy Hill and took all 3 points.
