FOOTBALL | Hereford Pegasus return to winning ways with Sam Griffiths on the scoresheet again in 3-1 victory.
Life is interesting for teams at the top of the Premier Division in the uhlsport Hellenic League, with leading clubs changing positions after each round of fixtures.
On Saturday, Pegasus entertained unbeaten Roman Glass St George however, the visitors returned to Bristol empty handed as the hosts gained the points in a close game.
In the eighth minute Pegasus opened scoring when Jaxson Hundt played a defence splitting pass between defenders into the path of Sam Griffiths, he took a touch before guiding the ball past gloveman Ryan Smallwood. This being his fourth goal in as many home league games.
In the twenty first minute Glass suffered another set back when Mikell Graham was dismissed for violent play after a crunching tackle on Joe Davies.
Despite being reduced to ten players the visitors remained a threat, gaining parity within five minutes when Neikell Plummer found space inside the penalty area then lashing the ball into the roof of the net.
Pegasus restored their advantage on the stroke of half time, Seb Dominguez got behind the defence, he pulled the ball back to Sam Griffiths, he guided it onto Jaxson Hundt who scored with a cool finish inside the upright.
The second half was keenly contested with neither side seriously testing the opposition goalkeeper.
In the ninetieth first minute, the hosts raced forward, Carlos Moreira, with only the keeper ahead of him was tackled by Matt Spiller for a corner. This was taken by Moreira, it was headed clear but, straight to the corner taker. Carlos Moreira, cut inside to curl a shot into the far top corner.
Pegasus secured three points thereby retaining their unbeaten home record, elevating them into joint second in the league.
