1st XI – Hensall win by 8 wickets
Hensall’s 1st XI delivered a commanding performance away at Thorpe Arch & Boston Spa, producing one of their most complete displays of the season.
After being asked to bowl, Hensall’s attack took control early. Rich Whaley was unplayable, returning a remarkable 4–8, ripping through the middle order with accuracy and movement. Dom Watson backed him superbly with 3–39, while Tom La‑Ffin added 2–48 to keep the pressure on throughout. T.A.B.S were eventually dismissed for 161 in 43.3 overs.
In reply, Hensall’s top order showed real composure. Chris Thornton set the tone with a positive 32, before the partnership of the day took over. Dom Watson (52)* and Craig Mainds (50)* put on a clinical, unbeaten stand, pacing the chase perfectly and guiding Hensall to 162/2 in just 33.4 overs.
A dominant win built on disciplined bowling and mature batting.

2nd XI – T.A.B.S win by 1 wicket
A tense, low‑scoring thriller saw Hensall’s 2nd XI fall agonisingly short in a match that swung repeatedly throughout the afternoon.
Batting first, Hensall struggled to build momentum against a tight T.A.B.S attack. Geoff Thornton showed real grit with 24 not out*, and Ben Walker added a valuable 23, but wickets fell regularly as the side were bowled out for 108 in 27.3 overs.
Defending a small total, Hensall fought superbly with the ball. Sam Eldin produced a sensational spell, taking 5–13, tearing through the top order and giving Hensall genuine hope of pulling off a remarkable win. The fielding unit backed him with real energy, forcing mistakes and keeping the pressure on.
T.A.B.S, however, edged their way home, reaching 109/8 in 33.4 overs — claiming victory by just one wicket in a nail‑biting finish.
A tough result, but a performance full of heart and character.
