After Hull was run out with the score on 63, Stanikzai guided Henlow home with an unbeaten 31, supported by Moore, as the hosts reached 91-5 in the 27th over to seal the win.

Henlow CC’s long-awaited return to league cricket ended in defeat as they were beaten by Eversholt CC by 112 runs in Division Three of the Bedfordshire County Cricket League.

Playing their first league fixture in seven years, Henlow were asked to field after Eversholt won the toss. The hosts posted 192 all out from 39.3 overs, built largely around a composed 77 from Ross Denton. Henlow shared the wickets around effectively, with Zahir Noori, Peter Gratrick and Scott Spicer all taking two apiece, while Sardar Navid Khan and Muhammed Shahid also chipped in. Despite regular breakthroughs, Henlow couldn’t quite contain the scoring as Eversholt pushed towards a competitive total.

In reply, Henlow’s innings never gained momentum. Early wickets left them struggling at 18 for 5, with Philip Brooks doing the bulk of the damage in a decisive spell of 3 for 6. Vishal Mistry then wrapped up the lower order with 4 for 26 to seal the result.

Only William Moore offered sustained resistance with an unbeaten 25, while Henry Heath (16) and Zabi Stanikzai (9) made brief contributions. Extras (19) proved the second-highest scorer, underlining Henlow’s difficulties against a disciplined Eversholt attack.

Ultimately, Henlow were bowled out for 80 in 24.4 overs, marking a tough return to league action. Despite the result, there were positives with the ball, but the visitors will look to regroup and improve with the bat as they continue their first league campaign in seven years.
