Alison Short Clinics & Events

Alison Short Clinics & Events Dressage training for riders of every level Having come from a non horsey family determination to succeed was something I needed in spades.

In my teens and twenties I rode in some of the first U 25’s shows, Catherstone Stud being the most memorable driving myself and my horse there and back in a day. In the 90’s I coordinated the first U25’s camp at Dressage at Hickstead, with over 40 riders attending. As a BD Youth Coach and Assessor my aim is to support pony, junior and young riders to find their way to developing a harmonious partne

rship, with a horse friendly approach. I have coached U25 riders to BD winter National Championship Top 3. BD Combined Training , BE Badminton grass roots, National PC Championships also top three. Having empathy with young riders and the challenges they face, emotionally & physically is a huge part of my passion for equestrian sport and our future stars.

Variety is the spice of life!

If life gets mundane we don’t excel and every day challenges become overwhelming.
Variety and a change from the norm doesn’t just help us but keeps our horses happy, focused and physically able to cope. Different terrain, body mobility and types of exercise are key to injury prevention. Whilst your horse may get daily turnout with the current state of the ground they are unlikely to be moving with ease and stimulated, often leaving us riding a rather unpredictable steed!

With the use of In Hand work, longreining, lungeing and hands on warm up and stretching patterns we are able to return the calm to our partnership.
Never underestimate the right stimulation to draw focus and build connection.
