This weekend the Club held their Triple T competition, a 3-wood singles event. 24 players contested the early rounds, with the winners of each of the 4 groups playing in the semi-finals, where Tom Campbell won against Karen Kennedy and Eammon Wren won against Ed Debaes. Tom and Eammon contested a close final, with Tom the eventual winner. The runner-up and winner’s trophies were then presented by Club President Bobbie Sims. Our thanks to the organisers and all those who helped to make the day a success, with a special mention to Ros & Elle for their delicious cakes.

Well done to both our 2026 Nicholas Soames Australian Pairs teams. Both performed well this year, with the A team topping their pool and the B team narrowly missing out on the top spot in theirs. After success in the semi-final v West Hoathly a few weeks ago, the A team played in the Final at Felbridge on Saturday but lost to deserving winners Preston.

Well done to the 9 men and 9 women who represented the club today at Hurstpierpoint BC’s inaugural 4-club event, where we played against teams representing our hosts, as well as from Haywards Heath and Saltdean clubs.
Although we came 3rd, we were only 2 points behind the host winners, and level on points with 2nd club Saltdean, who had a better shot difference.
Congratulations to all players and to our hosts for their hospitality and organisation.

After a hot, dry and sunny summer of competition rounds, our finals weekend arrived …… as did some very unwelcome bad weather. Whilst our gardens welcomed the change, our finalists were understandably frustrated by the heavy rain, strong winds and generally unpleasant playing conditions that prevailed on Saturday. Nonetheless, they battled through the scheduled matches and we were then all rewarded with improved conditions for Sunday’s games.
The club owes huge thanks to all the finalists, helpers and spectators; in spite of the conditions, it was a truly enjoyable and supportive atmosphere.
A special mention for Tony Bishop who not only contested 6 finals in just over 48 hours, but also won all of them, having played 98 ends and delivered 334 bowls! Well done to Tony and all the other winners and runners-up - full list below:

Greyer skies on Sunday afternoon for our first Drawn (Buddy) Aussie Pairs, but it was still hot 🥵 out on the green.
12 buddied couples played 3 x 5 ends of Australian Pairs before sitting down for a well-earned delicious tea, with plenty of scones and cake courtesy of Sue B, Bobbie & Georgina.
The 4 top pairs then played in the semi-finals where Ted Thibaut & Sue Wright beat Chris Whitehead & Chris Ellis 6-5 after an extra end, whilst Les Cheeseman & Kay Ellis beat Anne Harwood & Alison Halliwell (7-1).
After an exciting final, where Ted & Sue beat Les & Kay 8-4, Club President Bobbie Sims presented the winners and runners-up trophies.
Thanks to all players and everyone who made the day so successful; also congratulations to all the semi-finalists and well done to Ted & Sue for their win.

Huge congratulations to the club’s Mid-Sussex League team who secured promotion to Division 2 even before their final match last night.
Our opponents for that match, Haywards Heath, were very generous in their warm congratulations before and after the match and we wish them well in their promotion bid next season.
Meanwhile Henfield looks forward eagerly to life in Division 2 in 2027.
