πŸ’œπŸ’š RISING TO THE OCCASION πŸ’šπŸ’œ

On Saturday 13th June, Dacorum AC’s U18M athlete Teddy Murphy took on the challenge of competing at the inaugural Highgate Harriers London 5000 event at Parliament Hill.

The London 5000 was launched this year to fill the void left by the famous Night of the 10,000m PBs, which has taken a hiatus to allow its volunteer team a well-earned rest. The new event retained the same electric festival atmosphere, with close crowds, live music, flames on the home straight, pacing lights and Wavelight technology all helping to create the perfect environment for fast racing.

Competing in the U20 Men’s 3000m race, Teddy was the youngest athlete in the field, lining up against a strong group of older U20 athletes. With the entry standard set at a rapid sub-8:20, Teddy’s previous PB of 8:35.63 was outside the qualifying mark. However, organisers recognised his potential and accepted his entry, confident that racing against higher-calibre opposition could help him raise his performance.

Fully kitted out in the event sponsors’ New Balance race kit, Teddy rose to the occasion. Making the most of the high-quality field and the pacing lights, he produced an outstanding run to finish 6th and smash his personal best, stopping the clock at 8:29.39.

Taking more than six seconds off his previous best against such strong opposition is a fantastic achievement and further evidence of Teddy’s continued progression. πŸ’œπŸ’š

Congratulations Teddy on a superb performance and a well-deserved new PB. πŸ‘πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ”₯

Dacorum AC High Jumpers Shine at BIG on Tour Birmingham

Three of Dacorum AC’s talented high jumpers travelled to the BIG on Tour meeting at the University of Birmingham Athletics Track, Munrow Sports Centre, Edgbaston, on Sunday 14th June. This was a high-calibre event, with athletes required to achieve demanding entry standards to secure their place in the competition.

Representing the club were U18 Jesse Grinyer (Pool B), U20 George Ball (Pool A) and U20 Dahlia Corp (Pool C), with all three producing outstanding performances that reflected the hard work, commitment and dedication of both the athletes and their coach, Rob.

Competing in Pool B, Jesse Grinyer enjoyed a superb competition, clearing a new personal best of 1.96m to secure an excellent 2nd place finish. His clearance represented a remarkable 5cm personal best improvement, highlighting the progress he continues to make and rewarding the hard work he has put into his training.

In Pool A, George Ball produced a strong series of jumps, ultimately finishing 9th with a best clearance of 2.01m against a highly competitive field. Competing in one of the strongest pools of the day and achieving another 2-metre-plus performance is a testament to his quality and determination.

The standout result of the day came in Pool C, where Dahlia Corp showed she has well and truly put last season’s injury setbacks behind her. Dahlia delivered a fantastic performance to claim 1st place, equalling her personal best of 1.75m and taking the win in style. After the challenges of last season, this was an excellent return to top form and a well-deserved victory.

Congratulations to Jesse, George and Dahlia on their fantastic performances and achievements at this prestigious event. Each athlete represented Dacorum AC with distinction, producing results to be proud of against some of the country’s best high jumpers. Special congratulations also go to coach Rob (), whose guidance and support continue to help our athletes reach new heights.

πŸ’œπŸ’š First 10K. First win. πŸ’šπŸ’œ

A huge congratulations to our U23 athlete Lauren Collis, who took on her very first 10K road race at the St Albans Half Marathon Event this weekend and produced a fantastic performance!

Lauren crossed the line in 43:40, finishing 15th overall and, even more impressively, as the 1st female finisher in the race. πŸ₯‡πŸ‘

The St Albans Half Marathon Event is one of Hertfordshire’s most popular running festivals, attracting runners of all abilities and creating a fantastic atmosphere around the streets of St Albans and Verulamium Park.

To step up and claim the women’s title in her debut over the distance is a superb achievement and a testament to Lauren’s hard work and commitment in training.

Well done, Lauren – we’re excited to see what comes next! πŸ’œπŸ’š
