Herts Baseball Club

Herts Baseball Club Herts Baseball Club is affiliated with the British Baseball Federation, British Softball Federation and Little League Inc.

Our adult and youth teams play in the various league tiers of British Baseball and British Softball. Herts Baseball Club was founded in 1996 and over the years has become one of the largest baseball organisations in the country. The club is affiliated with the British Baseball Federation and Little League Baseball Inc. The Herts adult programme includes four teams, which play in the four British b

aseball leagues. The Herts Falcons, which is the club’s first team, competes in the National Baseball League (NBL) which is Britain’s top baseball league. The Falcons were promoted to the NBL in 2009, after becoming AAA British National Champions in 2008. Our four adult teams – the Falcons, Eagles, Hawks and Raptors – are truly international, with players originating from as far as Japan, the United States, Germany, South Africa, China, Australia, Canada, Poland, Venezuela, Bulgaria and Serbia to add to the strong nucleus of British players. The club also runs one of the largest and most successful youth baseball programmes in the UK. It offers baseball to boys and girls aged between 6 and 18. The club’s Under-14 All-Star team became Great Britain’s Under-14 National Champion in 2010 and runner-up in 2011. The Herts U17 team was a runner-up in 2013. Herts players are frequently selected by the various Great Britain National Teams and we hope that a player who has developed in the Herts youth programme will one day play on the world stage in MLB. Herts Baseball Club is frequently featured on BBC and other television channels and radio stations. The Club is based at Grovehill Ballpark in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire. It has made substantial investments in the Ballpark and baseball facilities with support from the National Lottery, BSUK and many other organisations and partners. As a result Herts Baseball Club is becoming a regular host of high-profile events such as the National Baseball Championships, the Herts Spring League, the Herts Futures Tournament, the Hunlock Series, and others. The club welcomes men and women, boys and girls regardless of whether or not they have had previous baseball experience. We offer baseball opportunities for all. Round Up - The midpoint of the regular season brought about delight for Herts!

- Hawks continued their fantastic start of the season, now with the 8th and 9th wins of the season, sweeping Richmond. Harry Mcmenamin and Andrew Fulfords lightning bats with doubles and triples cashing in the runs in the first game, winning 11-3. The second game brought about the second no hitter for Herts! With Kath, Ben Myzer and Anur doing a combined no no!
- Ravens took two superb wins at home against the chasing Minotaurs! Nic Goetz had a fantastic day with a couple of knocks in the game, along with Justin Cheng and Chung Yi Lin providing the runs to win 8-4. The second game ended up in a tie, however due to the rollback rule, Ravens ended up sweeping 3-0!
- Raptors also swept Northants in a strong display which saw them climb to 11-1 in the season table. Paul Owen and Hunter Devine being 5 of the runs in the first game as well as both Achterlounie’s pitching saw them come away winners in the first game 14-4. The second game saw the combination of experience and youth bear fruit with Craig Elliot Davey and David Roberts generating runs with the bat and Rob Jones bringing them in.
- Eagles faced a Guildford team, still undefeated at Basing Hill. Michael Chacko decided to really kick off his Herts career with a home run, and the return of Ben Kirby solidifying the defence, however they couldn’t stop the Guildford team due to time limit and lost game 1, 15-10. Game 2 saw a tough one where Guildford kept on the pressure and won 9-3.

Celebrating Pride Month @ Herts! ❤️ Baseball is a sport for everyone, and at Herts we promote diversity and inclusivity across all our teams, with LGBTQ+ members and allies playing side by side throughout the season and during winter training.

Each month, we have been holding and promoting women and non-binary-focused training sessions on the last Tuesday of the month at Grovehill or Basing Hill.

If you are interested in coming to any of our games to watch or open practices to give baseball a try, feel free to message us. All are welcome!! 🙌

Round up - Four teams - Four wins. Every team decided to do the same and split across the board.

- The Toucans ventured to Croydon for their game against the Pirates. Tsuyoshi Furuya’s dominant 14K’s were not enough to win the game, as the last inning the Pirates walked off on a 3 run 7 inning. The second game saw the Toucans explode in one inning, putting up TEN runs in the third and winning 11-1. Pitcher Eric Hedlund threw another great game, lowering his era to 1.31
- Cardinals decided to also get involved on having a one inning explosive thriller. Not to be outdone, they put up ELEVEN runs to win the first game 17-3. Cole Xiberras the standout hitter going 3/3 with 5 RBI’s. The second game saw a tough outing which led to the Cards losing out 8-5.
- Ravens journeyed to Richmond to face the Barons! Consistency was key for the team with 5 run innings across 3, keeping them strong to win the first game 18-9. The second game saw a Richmond walk off but saw Ben Szilagyi strikeout the side in his Herts pitching debut!
- The Eagles on their home opener exchanged wins with Bracknell. The Eagles base-running the struggle with not being able to capitalise, losing out on the first game 9-7. The second game saw a bizarre statistic in that the Eagles were no hit and came up with the win 6-5. Baseball? Strange sport.

Week Eight - Four out on the diamond, with the Eagles on their home opener. Let’s go Herts.
