Chacewater 0-1 St Keverne F.C

**REPORT BY Matt Ruse**

After last weeks heavy defeat, and with players not available, this away trip to high scoring Chacewater was going to be a difficult away game.

The 1st half was played with a good tempo from both sides & both sides had good battles all over the pitch. The Saints limited the home side to playing the long ball to thier lively striker and left winger, but with all the back 4 having had a great half, dealt with all of the attacks.

St Keverne played some nice attacking football as well, which saw A.RUSE and HAWKINS both have shots from outside of the box narrowly fly wide. H-T 0-0

A change in the strikforce saw THORNHILL come on and he added to his goal tally when good work from B.PHILLIPS and RICHARDS to set him through on goal, 1-0.

THORNHILL then curled a shot just wide, and HAWKINS had the chance to put the game to bed, but hit his shot at the keeper.

Chacewater kept pushing forward towards the end of the match, but didn't really cause enough of a problem, with The Saints producing what was a great team performance, stopping the 3rd highest scorers in the league from adding to their tally. F-T 0-1

SAINT OF THE MATCH: This could of gone to either of Kian NORMANSHIRE or Alfie Ruse for some monstrous tackles and overall great play, but this week it went to Jamie Sanders, for his great defensive work and continuous running against Chacewater's main threat.

3 points and a massive moral booster for The Saints today.

On a wet Saturday afternoon, The Saints welcomed 2nd place HOLMAN'S in their last home game of the 2025/26 season.

Not helped by 4 withdrawals on the morning due too sickness, St Keverne were looking to start strongly, but it was the visitors who started well & raced into a 2 goal lead inside the first 15 minutes.

The home side finally settled into the game & got a goal back on 24 minutes, when B PHILLIPS picked up the ball midfield. He set C PHILLIPS away, who held off his marker & scuffed his shot passed SOUTHWORTH in the visitors goal.

St Keverne were beginning to create more changes & were level just 8 minutes later when C PHILLIPS played HAWKINS through, again finishing well, for his 10th goal of the season.

Holmans remained calm & retool the lead just before he break when a long ball was missed by everyone, with HOTTON running on to it, beating stand in keeper HOSKING. H-T 2-3

The 2nd half started in a similar fashion to the first, with the visitors quick out the blocks, scoring 4 times in the first 15 minutes, with HOTTON completing his hat trick.

St Keverne tried to get back in to game, but we're unable to break down a stubborn Holmans defence. With the whether get worse, the game drifted to an end, with the result meaning that Holmans will finish 2nd F-T 2-7

SAINT OF THE MATCH: This was awarded to Bradley PHILIPS, who kept going throughout.

Unfortunately there is no photo as Bradley had his Stag do to get too.

St Keverne F.C 0-0 RNAS Culdrose Res

The Saints travelled to Culdrose for this midweek game, for a fixture that should have been an home game, but due to works over running, it was reversed.

With a strong wind blowing directly across the pitch, it was never going to be an easy, or pretty game, with neither side creating any clear cut opportunities.

Both defenses dealt with most things well, with the occasional misjudged ball, due to the wind. F-T 0-0

SAINT OF THE MATCH: This was awarded to keeper John Meakin. What he had to do, he did well, sweeping up when required & his distribution was strong, especially with the strong wind

The Saints travelled to newly crowded League winners DROPSHIP. The task wasn't made any easier with a number of players unavailable for varying reason.

It was never going to be an easy game & this proved to be the case with the home side taking a 3 goal lead in the first 20 minutes.

The visitors got a goal back just before the half hour mark when good work by COLLINS, winning the ball & finding THORNHILL in the box & he slotted it under PENNA in the DROPSHIP goal. H-T 3-1

The second half followed on from the first, with the home side very much on top, creating lots of changes, scoring 4 more goals.

St Keverne grabbed a late consultation through a penalty from Matt RUSE. F-T 7-2 All in all, a disappointing day at the office for the Saints.

Congratulations to DROPSHIP Res on winning the league & we wish them all the best in Division 2 next season.

SAINT OF THE MATCH: This was awarded to Kieren Croft, who never gave up throughout, continuing a very good, constant season for him personally

SATURDAY 18th APRIL

DIVISION 3 WEST

St Keverne F.C 3-1Troon Res

Jake Hawkins (2)

The Saints welcomed TROON to the Playing Field at the weekend, looking to continue the upturn in form which has seen only 1 defeat in the last 4 games.

Both teams started on the front foot, looking to play football as much as possible. After an even opening 20 minutes it was the visitors that took when the St Keverne defence failed to deal with a ball into the box. It fell to LADO who finished low passed MEAKIN.

Troon began to dominate possession, playing some good football but the returning JAMES had his defence marshalled well, dealing with most things. When the visitors did get behind, MEAKIN held strong in The Saints goal.

The hosts got themselves level in the 43rd minute when they were awarded a free kick on the right. JAMES took it & played it into the area, where it caused confusion, leading to the ball coming off a Troon defender towards to back post where CROFT was completely unmarked to head home from 2 yards.

St Keverne got their second just 3 minutes later when from a Troon corner, CROFT cleared the ball. THORNHILL picked it up just inside his own half, turned & played a perfect ball in behind the defence for HAWKINS to run on to. He beat the final defender & finished Cooley, lifting the ball over BROOKER. H-T 2-1

The 2nd half continued in a similar fashion to the first, with both sides playing some good football, most of the time cancelling each other.

The hosts did get a little breathing space just after the hour mark, when NORMANSHIRE won a header on halfway. The ball found it's way to THORNHILL, who held off his marker well. He laid the ball off to HAWKINS who hit an early shot from about 25 yards out. Although it wasn't right in the corner, it did catch BROOKER flat footed & found the back of the net.

With time ticking away, the visitors continued to play football, but without too many clear cut opportunities, again with JAMES & CROFT dealing with most things & MEAKIN sweeping up behind when it did get through.

F-T 3-1 with The Saints picking up a hard earned, but well deserved 3 points.

SAINT OF THE MATCH: There were some great performances all over the pitch with Phill James & Kieran CROFT solid at the heart of the defence & Jacob Thornhill with 2 assists.

It was once again awarded to Jake HAWKINS. Not only for his 2 goals, but for his work rate & attitude throughout the game
