⚓ IMPORTANT HARBOUR SAFETY NOTICE ⚓

As we head into the busier summer months, we want to remind everyone visiting the harbour of some important safety information.

Our harbour is an active working harbour — boats, fishing vessels, and other craft are in operation throughout the day, and vessels have priority at all times.

🚫 Please be aware:

🔴 Boats CANNOT stop quickly. Unlike road vehicles, vessels require a significant distance to slow down and cannot swerve to avoid swimmers or paddleboarders. By the time a skipper sees someone in the water, it may already be too late.

🔴 Swimming and jumping into the harbour is strongly discouraged. Anyone who enters the water does so entirely at their own risk.

🔴 Paddle boards and kayaks must stay well clear of the main navigational channel and all powered vessels at all times.

🔴 Submerged ropes, cold water currents, and boat propellers make the harbour extremely hazardous for swimmers.

We want everyone to enjoy the harbour safely — please take a moment to read our full Health & Safety Advisory, available at the Harbour Master's Office and displayed at access points throughout the harbour.

If you see someone in difficulty in the water, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
