We are a friendly running club based in Helsby, Cheshire
We train on Mondays and Wednesdays at 6:30pm

A safe and supportive club has always been a priority for Helsby Running Club. We want people to enjoy their running and thrive in a welcoming and mutually supportive environment. We follow the guidance of our governing bodies, England Athletics (EA) and UK Athletics (UKA). We have specifically appointed Welfare Officers (currently Jane Ashbrook and Geoff Collins) or you can approach our wider committee. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ Our FREE BIG SOCIAL RUN is back!

We’re welcoming all local runners to try out Helsby Running Club and learn how we can help support your running this Autumn/Winter 💚

🗓️ Wednesday 9th September
⏰ 6:15pm Meet Up / 6:30pm Start
📍 Helsby Community Sports Club

What you can expect on the night:
🏃‍♂️Inclusively paced groups including 5k , 10km & 12km
⛰️Wide range of experience from beginners to ultra-marathoners
👟Flat-ish route run together - no one gets left behind!
🥪 Informal social drinks after the run

We would love to have as many of our runners attend to enjoy the night and help promote / share HRC with new people 🙌

Exciting news everyone 💚

We’re delighted to share that Helsby Running Club has been shortlisted for Club of the Year at the England Athletics North West Regional Volunteer Awards, taking place on Friday 18th September.

Being shortlisted is a fantastic achievement and a reflection of every single member who contributes to making our club what it is today. What a team 💚

Together, we’ve built a happy, friendly, inclusive and safe running club that we’re all incredibly proud to be part of. Well done, everyone! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🎉

With the 2026 Helsby RC Track Night taking place on Friday 7 August at Ellesmere Port Sports Village, I thought people might like to have a look at the current meeting records and see what's on the line! 🔥

There are some impressive marks already on the books, including:
⭐ 800m
Women: Orla Gregory (Warrington AC) - 2:20.5
Men: Theo Joseph Kaye (Wirral AC) - 2:07.1
⭐ 3000m
Women: Amie Smith (Cheshire Dragons) - 10:48.6
Men: Mark Gittins (Helsby RC) - 9:24.7
⭐ One Mile
Women: Carla Davies (Preston Harriers) - 5:10.3
Men: Lewis Morris (West Cheshire AC) - 4:41.8
There are also plenty of junior, masters and relay records waiting to be challenged. 💪

💚 Hospice Heroes 🦸‍♀️🦸🦸‍♂️

We are so proud of our amazing club members who have laced up to raise vital funds for The Hospice of the Good Shepherd in Chester! 🏥💙

This incredible hospice provides specialist palliative care for people across Cheshire, South Wirral, and North Wales.

Did you know it costs over £5 million a year to keep their doors open? With only 17% of that funded by local authorities and government bodies, they rely heavily on amazing people fundraising to keep doing what they do.

Our runners have been absolutely smashing it:
🏅Cora completed the Chester 50 Mile race!
🎅Hannah & Jay took on the Santa Dash (raising the most money at that event!)

We’re also proud to support The Hospice of the Good Shepherd amongst other charities through our 4VHM race donations 💚

Awesome running from Alex, John & Conor 👏

Conor came 1st place winning in 2:18! 🥇
Alex ran his first Marathon and finished 35th! 👏
John completed his E in his A-Z challenge 🙌

🥇 Massive congratulations to Andy Brookshaw for clinching 1st place at the Paul Lavelle foundation Wirral Marathon!

🏆 He crossed the finish line with an awesome time of 2 hours and 49 minutes 🏃‍♂️👏

Thanks to the Paul Lavelle Foundation team for putting on such a great event! 💚
