💚 Hospice Heroes 🦸‍♀️🦸🦸‍♂️

We are so proud of our amazing club members who have laced up to raise vital funds for The Hospice of the Good Shepherd in Chester! 🏥💙

This incredible hospice provides specialist palliative care for people across Cheshire, South Wirral, and North Wales.

Did you know it costs over £5 million a year to keep their doors open? With only 17% of that funded by local authorities and government bodies, they rely heavily on amazing people fundraising to keep doing what they do.

Our runners have been absolutely smashing it:
🏅Cora completed the Chester 50 Mile race!
🎅Hannah & Jay took on the Santa Dash (raising the most money at that event!)

We’re also proud to support The Hospice of the Good Shepherd amongst other charities through our 4VHM race donations 💚

Conor came 1st place winning in 2:18! 🥇
Alex ran his first Marathon and finished 35th! 👏
John completed his E in his A-Z challenge 🙌

🥇 Massive congratulations to Andy Brookshaw for clinching 1st place at the Paul Lavelle foundation Wirral Marathon!

🏆 He crossed the finish line with an awesome time of 2 hours and 49 minutes 🏃‍♂️👏

🏆🏆🏆🏆 QUADRUPLE BORDERS LEAGUE WINNERS!! 🎉

Helsby Running Club have won FOUR borders league titles with an absolutely dominant performance:
🏆 Women’s
🏆 Men’s
🏆 Vet’s (women’s)
🏆 Vet’s (men’s)

Founded in 1983, Borders League is THE competitive road-running series for clubs across North Wales, West Cheshire, and the Wirral.

Helsby have gone from strength to strength with big turnouts across the field with strong competition at the front and a core emphasis on inclusion for all 💚🙌👏

This win builds on the men’s title last year as they go back to back. Whether it’s road running, a social 5k, hitting the trails, smashing XC or Ultra distances, Helsby is defo the place to be 💪🙌👏

No Tough Team this year…

📣 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 📣
𝗧𝗢𝗨𝗚𝗛 𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗠 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

Due to factors beyond our control, we’re very sorry to announce that we are unable to host the much-loved Tough Team Race in 2026. We are hopeful that the event will return to the calendar in 2027.

Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Safety Advisory Group has advised that the race can now only take place with a full road closure across the entire route. This requirement has not been in place previously and, unfortunately, makes the event unviable for this year due to the significant costs involved, as well as the disruption it would cause to local businesses and residents.

Our priority now is to explore alternative routes and options for 2027. This will require considerable planning and effort from our dedicated team of volunteers, who work incredibly hard behind the scenes to deliver our events.

Please be assured that we will do everything we can over the coming year to bring Tough Team back in 2027.

All entrants for the 2026 event should have received a full refund.

If you like to run, we have a vibrant community of runners. From those who have just completed couch to 5k, road runners, trail runners, fell runners and even Ultra Marathon 100 milers - at Helsby everyone is welcome 💚

🌟Full Membership £43 a year (Including EA affiliation, Borders Races, XC races, Northern Athletics races, EA race discounts, and everything in the social membership tier)

🌟Social Membership: £20 a year (For those who just want to come to the three training sessions each week and be part of the club, you can upgrade to full membership at anytime!)

🌟2nd Claim Membership: £20 (Access to full membership, as your EA affiliation will be with your 1st club, competition entry will depend on specific league rules)
