An enjoyable Social Bowling session this afternoon with some very good deliveries achieved. Next Sunday is our first internal competition of the season, but before that we have a free Open Day on Saturday 16 May, 2-4, so if you would like to try your hand at bowling, please do come along. Remember flat, closed toe shoes - we will supply all the equipment. Comment if you would like more information.

Great first Bowls Drive today. We had 10 bowlers playing 3 games per person. Well done to Derek Fox, who is in the lead so far. Let’s see how the other Bowls Drive matches go to see if anyone can overtake him. Thank you to our Chair, Andrea White, for organising the match play - it seemed a complex procedure but she sorted us all out.

Wow, how do we decide who has the winning shot? At the coaching session tonight there were so many fabulous shots but these were so good! Well done to everyone who took part, you all did so well 😁.

Two years ago we had a visit from Thorsten who was staying with a friend in the village. Thorsten lives in Germany and was intrigued by the game of lawn bowls and came along to have a go. He enjoyed it so much and purchased a set of bowls from us so he could continue playing back in Germany. He recently celebrated his birthday and his friend presented him with one of our Club polo shirts - Thorsten sent the attached photos of him wearing his shirt. So now we have gone international 😊. It’s a shame he is too far away to join us in our weekly matches though.

The green is looking really good for the start of the season. Today Duncan from Ashby Grass applied a special fertiliser to the green which partly helps reduce worm casts. Our Green Team hope they don’t have to sweep the green as often now 😁. Thank you Duncan.

What a marvellous Green Opening we had this evening with quite a few members attending to have a roll up. It was really good to meet up for bowling with each other after a long break. We bowl again on Sunday afternoon so it would be good to see more of our members joining in. Next Friday will be a coaching session for newer members who are showing great signs of becoming proficient bowlers. Well done to everyone who took part this evening.

Thank you to Darrel, Vicky, Heather, Martin, Janis, Garry and me (Lynn) for all your help with staining the benches and shed ready for the new season. As the saying goes, many hands make light work. And thank you to Marianne who looks after the flower beds - she was busy weeding and tidying them today. Not long now until the bowls season starts 😁

We have THE BEST Green Team!!! Despite an equipment failure (we need to buy a new spreader), the team still managed to spread the lawn sand and fertiliser on the green this week. And no, this video isn’t speeded up - David was running up and down the green so the correct amount was spread onto the grass. Well done all 😁
